BROTHER, NOW SAINT
My heart trembles as I stand here
Memories of the past heightens my fears
For I remember that day, when the sun refused to shine, the moon refused to smile, the world stood still in time
A mystery, mysterious to mortals, yet understood by the Divine.
The uninvited visitor came to us, not at night but in broad daylight
And before our very eyes, dared one of us to a bloody fight
With nothing much to offer, we looked on in utter fright.
Oh!, Without invitation, he visited, and one of us, he took
Astonished were we, no one knew the names that topped his book
Ah!, Has this been ever heard of amongst us?
No! We never knew that the dreaded but inevitable guest was this near
He stole from us, and he did not even care.
Doubtful heads began to shake in sorrow and disbelief
We never saw this coming, oh, great thief!
Mortal minds that we are, we saw one of us, gone
But heaven rejoices greatly, behold a soul, forever won.
On this very day, joy faded from the earth
The price of mortality, paid in death
But an even greater joy abides in the Holy City
Your name, our Brother, inscribed in the book of the living.
God beckoned at the time he deemed right for our brother
A life cut short in the eyes of men is fully fulfilled in the sight of the master
With hearts and voices joined together in prayer and thanksgiving,
We see our brother among the triumphant, fully redeemed.
We don't remember this day like men of little faith
We believe that you are in heaven, preparing to welcome us at the gate
This road you once trod, we shall all one day pass
Yet our white cassok signifies our hope at last.
The best of orders is reserved for you above with the Angels
Mortal minds may not comprehend this Holy Exchange
Now that you have taken your rightful place among the angels
We remember you as we ask you,
Pray for us you that seated with angels and Saints
Pray for us our Brother, now Saint.
Pray for us, Ecclesia dwelling in the eternal Ecclesia
Rest on brother Geoffrey
Wow! Your are welcome
