Overall, women who consumed 3 cups of coffee per day reduced their risk of developing diabetes by 27 percent, but if they had lunch every day, they reduced their risk of diabetes by 33 percent.
The effect of drinking coffee with lunch was only seen in women who consumed black coffee, not coffee with milk or other additives. Because in this study, very few women consumed coffee with milk, so the results are not very clear.
Sartorelli suggests that although drinking coffee at lunch can reduce the risk of diabetes, one should also pay attention to what foods one eats. Because the food consumed can also affect the risk of developing diabetes.
