Communities in Michika local government in Adamawa State have endured years-long non-availabity of grid electricity, which has brought adverse effects on the economy of Kamwe the people.

Michika Local Government Area, which has sixteen (16) wards and some Development Areas, has experienced power blackout since 2014/2015 till date.

Apart from sixteen (16) wards that Michika has, the local government consists of other communities such as Madzi, Garta Ghumchi, Bazza and Minkisi Wuro Ngiki, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the affected communities, an elderly man in Madzi ward, told me "that the electricity problem could be traced to the disconnection of the communities from Borno State".

Mr Tumba also added that the "last year 2021 the state government claim that issue of electrification in Michika have been restored which is not, cause in that same year the electricity was only manage for two weeks, after all Mubi the neighboring local government are using electricity since 2015/2016 unlike Michika Local Government Area".

We the KAMWE people are soughting for government intervention, came to do the necessary thing to restore the electricity in Michika. I can visualize the picture and video during the campaign of His Ex Ahmadu Umaru Fintri in 2019 at Gss Michika, Hon. Dr Stephen Maduwa will bear me a witness when He promise the good Kamwe people that a more than hundred houses will be connected to a transformers if they voted him into the office.

Michika with all it's Sixteen (16) wards came out massively and give out they vote in thousands to His, Ex Ahmadu Umaru Fintri as they promised him during His campaign in 2019.

Although the supply was restored in 2021, following an upgrading of the failed 30MVA to 60MVA Transformer, there was little or no improvement in the supply from Borno Transmission to serve the affected communities, hence the communities were severed.

We are hopefully waiting for the state government’s reaction on Michika Electrification.
