Democratic Lt. Gov. John #fetterman of #pennsylvania is raising the ire of Republican lawmakers with his choice of decor for the state capitol in Harrisburg. After hanging flags supporting cannabis #legalization and LGBTQ+ rights from his office balcony, legislators included a provision in a budget measure last month that specifies which flags may be flown from the capitol building.
A spokesperson for Republican House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff would not confirm that the new rules were passed because of Fetterman’s #flags, saying only that “it has to do with providing for uniformity and decorum for what is displayed on the outside of the Capitol.”

After getting burned, U.S. farmers in Indiana start their own co-op
When enthusiastic farmers in the U.S. state of Indiana got the chance to grow fiber on guaranteed contracts for a processor across the state line in Kentucky, they jumped at the chance. Last year a group of farmers grew about 500 acres for Sunstrand, a Louisville, Kentucky-based fiber processor, only to see the company go bankrupt, leaving them stuck with their crops.
Now, six farmers have joined to set up Heartland Hemp Cooperative (HHC), with plans to build their own processing facility. Co-founders Michael Morrow and Marty Mahan said they hope to bring the majority of previous Sunstrand growers onboard, with a goal to expand to 20 members for the 2021 season.
The co-op is continuing to develop a seed-to-shelf business supply chain model, working out such fundamentals as the maximum distance farms should be from the processing center, said Mahan, who also serves on the board of directors of the Indiana Farmers Union.
Heartland will begin with basic products such as hurd for animal bedding and hempcrete construction. The co-op continues to explore options for both the hurd and the technical fibers, Mahan said.

Dumping CBD Oil On Strawberries Extends Their Shelf Life And Stops Mold Growth, New Study Find
“CBD oil inhibited yeast and mold growth on strawberries. Strawberries treated with CBD oil had better overall quality compared to non-[treated] fruit.”
The study—set to be published in the journal Postharvest Biology and Technology—tested the antimicrobial effects of CBD by dousing strawberries in CBD oil after they’d been harvested. Researchers wanted to know if doing so would “reduce microbial growth and extend the shelf life.”
“Treating strawberries with CBD oil lengthens shelf life and reduces microbial load.”To achieve the extended freshness, researchers stored the cannabinoid-treated fruit at at 1 degree Celsius for 8 days and 10 degrees Celsius for to 8 days. The results show that “CBD oil has the potential to be used by consumers at home as an effective antimicrobial treatment and to extend strawberry shelf life,” they wrote.
