It's the Seventh Day of Sukkot

It's an Eight day feast, so we're almost at the end. The last day is another Sabbath.

Breakfast was delicious, we fired up the campstove and made french toast, we had bread, eggs and milk cool in our cooler.

Snake Presentation by Papa-Pepper

Around noon was a presentation about snakes and wild animal by the "wild man" @papa-pepper. Both children and adults alike enjoyed learning more about these fascinating animals.

We Got To Hold a LIVE Snake

Pappa came over to our camp holding a giant black hog-nosed snake (non-venomous). It's a strange feeling holding this slitherly creature, something we won't soon forget.

Lauren held the snake and our baby! Now that's talent!

My First Fried Grasshopper

We read in the bible that bugs are unclean, with one exception: the grasshopper or locust. They are jumping all around the field and we found a dozen big ones. Our neighbor decided to fry some up with butter and garlic.

You may eat the following kinds of flying insects that walk on all fours: those having jointed legs above their feet for hopping on the ground. Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket, or grasshopper, all other flying insects that have four legs are detestable to you. Leviticus 11:21-23

Yum, couldn't pass up this experience!

There are grasshopper drum sticks in the pan!

What it looks like close up, seconds before devouring.

They were pretty crunchy, tasted buttery and garlic-y. Sort of reminded me of popcorn, with the hulls that stick in your teeth. I crunched on them for a while before spitting out the shells. Perhaps if they were DEEP fried, the shells would be softer.

I hear chocolate covered is another way to enjoy the food of the field.

A Walk to the Bottom of the Mountain

While looking for "goodly branches" a few days ago, I discovered I had some serious poison ivy. I was advised to look for "Jewel Weed" to put on the rash. Supposedly there was some at the bottom of the mountain.

My two bigger girls wanted to help me hunt for jewel weed.

We found the pond on the way down the mountain.

Long driveway on the property.

We found a flock of goats on the main road, just walking along.

We didn't find jewel weed (touch-me-nots), but it was a fun walk, although a little tiring going back UP the mountain.

The sawmill is on the way back up, we could see the incline in the terrain.

A Special CHEESE Tray!

Another of our neighbors had set up a cheese display, a whole bunch of cheese varieties along with some wine pairings. It was a special treat!

Settlers of Catan After Dark

This evening was another Settlers game, this time with five players. We had to get creative with the lighting.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations. Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.

When a leftist rag rips apart a book, you KNOW it's good.

The Tuttle Twins series is among the most wretchedly contrived, grotesquely unethically indoctrinating, cliché-ridden heaps of steaming garbage I’ve ever had the misfortune to read. Written to bring young people into one of the most disgraceful political tendencies in the world before they have the critical thinking skills to recognize it, it is a hideous fraud and an ugly twisted farce.

No better endorsement than that! Use the coupon code CURRENTAFFAIRS for a WHOPPING 50% off your purchase! Check them out here.
