I saw a short vid on a Joe Rogan talkshow featuring a famous Mushroom expert Paul Stamets. I immediately wanted to see more about this portobello mushroom.

My first web search on duckduckgo using similar terms of "negative effects of portobello mushroom"
pulled the following article from the science news website mentioning that portobello mushrooms and button mushrooms to have no anti-cancer traits.

And

A study by Oxford doesn't mention anything about portobello mushrooms being against it. Meaning, portobello mushrooms doesn't have anti-cancerous traits.

But here it says portobello mushrooms cause cancer if consumed raw and un-cooked. These cancerous chemicals found hese mushrooms stay put when applied to heat, so fully cooking it is safe? Doesn't state otherwise.

Is this information enough to put Paul's life in danger?

I dig deeper

In this study I found that fungi dna was a common find in tumors. Want to guess which mushroom was most commonly found out to be?
Not only is it found to cause cancer, it helps spread it throughout the body.

At this point I can see some real risk to eating portobello mushrooms. And knowing this on a wide scale could have serious health benifits and bad conflicts in the marketplace. So, is the food market for portobello and button mushrooms seeing a crash in the future?

What would replace this delicacy it if something like this happened on a major scale?
