I remember really liking this city way up in the Andes. It actually had a growing expat community. You usually find those only in the most comfortable spots in this part of the world; and comfortable indeed is Arequipa Peru!
It's very much a small city made up mostly of Indigenous Inhabitants. It has low crime, the people look happier and friendlier compared to Lima the capital on the coast, that is for sure.
Since being near the Equator but up in the mountains it has that "eternal spring" type weather year round which people love. For me leans a bit on the cool side, but then again I'm a fan hot beach weather.
Being safe, affordable, with great weather, restaurants, a growing x-pat community, and markets loaded with amazing produce. No wonder I'm suddenly thinking about revisiting this place some time down the road.
Now come check out some of my favorite "Real Life Captured" photos from my time in Arequipa Peru!
It is very obvious that they are happy people. It's cool if you think of revisiting the city. Visit where makes you happy 😊
That's a gnarly-looking armoured vehicle!
