In the same vein, Self-discipline is the ability to control yourself.

A lot of people face hardships, difficulties in life and broken relationships because they lack this virtue.

There is a story of a lady that I heard sometimes ago. This young lady is always "lucky". She's always successful in anything she sets her mind upon and of course, just like anyone will do, she always brags about how "lucky" she is.

A friend of hers visited her in her office and noticed that her boss her talks to her harshly. On their way back home after the close of business, the friend told her that she can't work for such a cruel and strict person. She was stunned by the response of her friend. She said that as long as he pays her salary as at when due, she don't care about his behavior. She's only focused on doing her duties diligently and getting paid. She needs the for her school fees.

If it was another person, he or she would have resigned, and join the league of jobless youth roaming around the city, searching for jobs. And feel like they are "unlucky".

In the case of this lady, what is perceived as "luck" is nothing more than knowing what you want and going for it irrespective of situation that stand against you. Self-discipline endowed her with an attractive personality which makes people favour her.

All the people we see as "lucky" are people who are disciplined enough to fully make use of every opportunity that comes their way to its fullest. While on the other hand, those being "unlucky" are getting a byproduct of their wrong disposition to issues.

Many good relationships, companies, business etc are crumbled and ruined because couples lacked self-discipline. A single word can kill a relationship, in as much as silence could save it.
