Us! At the Nine Arch Bridge

I had to wake up early in the morning today. It was 3.45 am when I woke up. Mom had prepared Barley to drink in the morning. I quickly took a wash and came to drink Barley. Then I got ready. After worshipping Lord Buddha we left home at 4.45. There was light rain in the morning and the weather was cold.

Our way to Badulla

We came to Badulla via Ratnapura road, We stopped at P&S to have breakfast. We had a slow drive because it started raining heavily. The weather was very cold, I almost started shivering. After passing Ratnapura the environment was incredibly beautiful. The chilling winds, misty mountains, and small waterfalls were amazing. I felt like I was in heaven. We stopped at a place in Beragala-Hali Ela road to have a hot cup of tea. The view from the tea shop was breathtaking.

At around 11.45 am we were at Demodara, Nine arch bridge. It is one of the most tourist attractions. I have seen the Nine arch bridge in photos and the internet. But this is the first time I am seeing it with my own eyes. The nine arch bridge is very picturesque. We enjoyed the great views and took many photos. The train was scheduled to pass by at 12.30 pm, We did not wait for the train as we were feeling tired. And I couldn't take anymore pictures because the battery is dead.

Mom & Dad enjoying the beautiful views

Since we were a bit tired and hungry, we went straight to the hotel from the Nine arch bridge. The hotel room was good, it was more than I expected. We took lunch from ‘’ Hela Bojun’’. It is one of my favorite places to have food if I’m away from home. I like it very much because it’s cleaner than the other places and they don’t add flavors or msg to food. Also, they have a variety of Sri Lankan traditional food. I was not in a mood to have rice and curry so I had hoppers which were served with a Chili Sambol. Then I drank Kithul flour drink. It was amazing and very filling. After lunch, I rested for about two hours. < div class="text-justify"> In the evening we decided to go to a temple. Muthiyangana Raja maha Viharaya was only 1.8 km away from the hotel. It’s located in the middle of the Badulla town. We reached the temple at about 5.00 pm. Muthiyangana Raja maha vihara is an ancient temple with a great history. We did offerings to Lord Buddha and started to worship under a Bodhi Tree.It was quite relaxing in the evening and I was lucky enough to visit one of the sacred temples in our country. I did not able to take photos as it is not allowed inside the temple premises.

After visiting the temple, It was time for dinner. We had some light dinner and returned to the hotel room. Then I took a wash and got into my pj's. It was cold and I was sleepy. While watching the news with my parents I started writing my diary.
