Keeping voting open

Of course this is blurt and everyone has the freedom to vote as they wish but some things i personally try and do that I think make the platform vibrant.

I have now gotten several real life friends on here who are active bloggers so far @tiffanivinyard @petrapurple @beelightfully @thirdeyecrown @fashionphotos and more to come I do upvote them, to help them really build and get going but I try not to exclusively vote for my own friends. That includes people I have built connections with on here too. It’s nice to help them get on their feet but I try not to forget to go and find new people and new content. I don’t want to end up purely in a circle voting for the same people.

I also try and vote various countries. I personally don’t like country communities. It’s nice for meetups but for me that’s it. I don’t want to support Uk blurt I want to support world blurt and engage with people all around the world.

I don’t really upvote myself. I know we CAN upvote ourselves and I upvote the odd thing but I prefer to stay away from that and use my stake to support other people and hope people support my posts.

Being able to do things doesn’t mean we should do them, just that we can make our own decisions and our own moral compass as only we know our own lives. I personally don’t like when I see someone upvoting not only all their own posts but their own comments too because I’m not sure how they have much power left to vote for anyone else. Putting in a big stake and upvoting a couple of your own posts a day though seems relatively social. Even so it’s their stake and if we don’t like it we don’t use ours to upvote that person.

These are just a few ways I personally try and use my, at present, limited stake. How does everyone else feel about these things?

Blurt doesn’t encourage bad behaviour like some people suggest it just allows people the freedom to choose their own moral compass. It puts the emphasis on personal responsibility and doesn’t make judgments on face value as none of us know what goes on in other people’s lives. Maybe the self upvote gives all their money to charity outside of blurt or does lots for free etc.

Your morality really lies only between yourself and god.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

allows people the freedom to choose their own moral compass

This makes me happy!

In the beginning, I also voted almost exclusively in a country community. In the meantime, I try to spread my votes more.
The upvoting of own contributions may be justified with the poverty in some parts of this world. If I had to feed my family there, I would use every opportunity to earn money. That's why I can't condemn these upvotes in principle.

We have people unable to feed themselves in the Uk. I do appreciate some countries have bigger poverty levels but all countries have people who can’t afford to live.

but all countries have people who can’t afford to live

And that is the real problem. There are people who are starving, and there are people like Elon Musk who are spending 43 billion on Twitter. I think that's disgusting.

Actually I don’t I don’t mind Elon being super rich. He doesn’t even live in a fancy house, he’s manifested and generated money and is spending it in ways he feels it benefits society as a whole. You don’t see him owning 100 properties and lounging on the beach every day. He also employs hundreds of thousands of people. We can all manifest and generate money. It’s actuallt better to empower others to do the same than give hand me downs. Mostly if places like Africa took back control of their natural resources they would be richer than the west anyways. They don’t need charity just the freedom to earn their own abundance and the platforms and opportunities.

Money isn’t bad or good it just highlights who you are as a person. If you use it to control others or to help society depands on self and can be done on small and big levels, it’s just more obvious when ppl have more money. I think Elon is an example of someone who actually uses his money for the betterment of society and is doing things no other individual can do.

I don’t condem self upvoting tho I think it’s somewhat unprofitable tho long term as a lot of people don’t tend to upvote ppl who constantly upvote everything and don’t upvote others so even if your stake is worth 50 c x 10 a day you can earn way more just posTing good content and being part of the community I feel. But like we say each person will do as they like I guess if you hold big stake and don’t have time to curate it’s a kind of dividend. But I think for it to be profitable you need to hold a rly big stake

These people often cannot afford to think in the long term. I would cite Venezuela as an example. The people there are very poor. In some parts of the country, the local currency is not accepted by merchants because it has no value. The Colombian peso is the "official" means of payment there. If I can feed my family with 50 cents, then I'm not thinking long-term.

I think people come to Blurt and Invest in Blurt with different goals in mind. Some people come here planning to commit a lot of time to blogging and socializing and building up a reputation and income in this way.

While others come here with a more calculative investment mindset which includes self up-votes, vote for voting and less time socializing.

This only works if they invest/buy blurt, hence being a force of overall good, making the price go up, and Blurt more valuable for everyone.

So I'm happy to not pass judgment on self up-voters cause if their vote is worth anything anyway they simply are the equivalent of Blurt investors using the blurt up-vote system to get an APR on their investment no different than how other investments give you an APR.

For us to say Blurt is not to be used in this way, when the blockchain is financially designed to allow it, seems like human social constructs would be discouraging the use of an otherwise mathematically sound investment instrument.

I'd almost like for these accounts to just post blank posts just being straight up, saying they are upvoting themselves and the same other people as part of a Blurt investment club. I don't see anything wrong with a Blurt investment club.

There is only one thing that that will do to the price of Blurt.....and you know what that is.

Another well thought out post. But i saw you started following me....again! What is up with that. You are the only one I know here who keeps having to refollow people. Is it the device you are using? That must be getting very frustrating at this point. What can it be. I hope we can get that fixed for you soon.

Yes it’s kind of like a dividend and I think it’s ok too just we also have stake we choose who to upvote with I like the fact that’s how it works

Absolutely. I see it as this is your interest on your investment...20 up-votes a day, and you can do what you want with them.... and no creepy whale is going to down-vote you for that. lol

I rly don’t know but yeah I unfollow people constantly I’m always having to refollow 😪 at least I can randomly use blurt on my day phone again it didn’t work for a month
