ABBA voyage

I have always loved ABBA when I was a kid I had every single one of their remastered albums. Not just the ABBA Gold like normal people but their individual albums so I know all the songs most people have never heard of. I always think there’s a few singers or bands from back in the day that you really wished you’d of gotten the chance to see but missed out generationally, for me it’s probably ABBA, Elvis and Blondie. These are not by any means my favourite musicians or people I even listen to that much I just feel they had an energy that might never be replicated. I knew ABBA had started doing the voyage concerts and I did toy with going but I thought £58 or whatever for a not real band was quite expensive really. I had a few friends over the other night and one said she was going and we started talking about it and another of my friends who works as a journalist said oh well if we wanna go I can get tickets and within 12 hours we had the tickets, free drinks vouchers and some T-shirts, only two though, so I missed out. You weren’t allowed to take any photos or videos inside the arena which was kind of cool so don’t expect any of those because I didn’t wanna get kicked out. I don’t think it’s the same as watching a real band there was something missing in the energy and the blonde character definitely was a bit jerky and pretty obviously ai, she was a bit like watching Sofia, I think that’s what that robot is called anyway. They looked better from far away than close up I would say because there is something void in the eyes that just isn’t there with the holograms. It was really fun night but more like a visual ABBA dance night than watching the actual band I would say. Maybe astral travel might still be the best to actually experience the real ABBA. There were some really cool effects though and it was a great experience, they also played one of my favourite songs which I really wasn’t expecting because it’s a bit of a rare Unknown one ‘eagle’. I think I was probably the only person that enjoyed that as everybody suddenly stopped singing and dancing apart from me, but for me this is always been one of their best songs.

I was also pleasantly surprised there was a real mix of ages, I guess true ABBA fans that would’ve seen them in concert would probably be in their 70s now maybe 60s at the youngest but actually I would say 80% of people were 40 s and under showing that they are always reaching new listeners, who know all the lyrics.

How I love these songs. I used to wrok at a shop where my manager decided ABBA will be the only playlist (women buy with ABBA she insisted). Such a magical music. Love the photos, looks like you girls had lots of fun 😍

I think it would be slightly annoying after the first week that I was working there playing the same of anything

Oh you got it right. At the time it was hard. She insisted as I say because there were a few requests of change :) but I fondly remember the time as I was half my age now 👶
