Just when we think it is safe to go back in the water, AI is back with more scares.
AI is undoubtedly a valuable tool. You can see that on the front page of Blurt as I now see it being used to pad out a post to the requisite length that will get a yuge Blurt Booster vote.
Add in a confetti of jpegs and you get enough to crash trending for a few days. Naming no names obviously. I would not like to upset the apple cart. 😀
I am not anti-AI or some kind of AI hating evangelist. I think it is a great step into the unknown. Even if that unknown is the unintended consequence of a thousand third rate bloggers getting it to write their posts so they can win a handful of cents to sell on Probit/Ionomy.
I digress. The reason I write this post is that I saw the latest experiment in AI which was both frightening and exciting.
Frightening in that who knows where this will end and exciting in that... who knows where this will end. I can see the benefits as explained in the article. Yes, this would be ahuge advance in treating people who need it for medical reasons such as a stroke or locked in syndrome.
Will that be the primary purpose they are working on this? No, it wont.
What happens when this becomes mainstream and it makes a mistake? We have seen people shot for simple mistakes.
If they can now rely on the Encyclopedic library of knowledge behind the large language models such as every Blurt frauds favourite, ChatGPT, to decode brain signals then surely they cannot be too far away from identifying what consciousness in the brain looks like?
A scan that can identify what areas of the brain light up correlate with thoughts, feelings or even particular words must be close to interpreting what areas of the brain are responsible for consciousness as a whole.
I think so. There are advances that mankind has made that they will not tell us about. Not till it is to their advantage. With quantum computing they will get the breakthrough they need to start storing humans on machines.
Or finalising Musk's dreams of human to brain interfaces.
And we know who they are, it does not need to be spelled out. The ones that already lord it over us.
How long before they start storing humans on machines?
And the Question is... Will they still be human?
At this point, if I wanted to emulate the BlurtBooster vote takers I would translate the whole article to Spanish and copy paste it below. Everyone likes an article copied into Spanish and it sure gets the word count up for that big blurt booster vote. 🤣
I wont though.
I shall put in another pic because I am enjoying Canva :)
I will leave you with a thought experiment. If you are a third rate blogger that uses AI to write your posts... Are you still a third rate blogger?

IA 🥓
Genuine 🥓! 😀
What if consciousness does not resides in the brain ?
That there is only interaction between the consciousness and the brain .
Like consciousness only uses the brain as a tool to communicate .
For consciousness of a individual human resides in the whole expansion of the Universe .
So no worry's about our consciousness ( spirit ) , it is in a save place , Ai can not harm it there . But it could find ways to block consciousness from it's connection with our brain / individual human entity and replace it with a Ai conscious to gain full control over the person . If i look at some world leaders and top media people they might already have this technology , just look at Biden for example .
Next step they might replace the consciousness of large groups of people by some controlled and obeying Ai . 5G/6G smart meters , 15 minute city's ,.. you will own nothing and be happy ,. you will be owned .
In a way using chatGPT for blogging is already letting the Ai take control over you a bit . To let you get used to it ,. to become comfortable numb .
;-)
Intriguing! I am not sure I ascribe to consciousness residing outwith the brain but if it were there would have to be a conduit as you say. If you then upload it to a machine then would consciousness be able to connect. I do not think such a connection would be allowed by the machine itself!
A slippery slope we are hell bent on.
