It is agreeable that the phrase "You Don't Lose Until You Sell" is one of the most famous phrases in the crypto space used mostly in times like the bear market when the prices of most cryptocurrenies and crypto projects plunge really hard or when the prices of whatever we are holding goes south. "You don't lose until you sell" is birthed off the idea that a person hasn't made any loss from a project until they actually succumb to the pressure, accept defeat and sell at a loss and this phrase has motivated quite alot of people to hold on through the harshest times of the market or to resist the pressure of selling even when it feels like the only way out of the misery of holding on to a cryptocurrency that is crashing and rapidly losing value.
Unfortunately, so many individuals have suffered unbearable losses and have lost unrecoverable amounts of money simply because they kept holding onto projects that were crashing so hard and sadly never recovered from the crash. I've had my share of losses while holding onto cryptocurrencies that I felt could bounce back up after their rough times but the sad reality is that most cryptocurrencies (over 98% ) do not recover when they crash.
So has the phrase "You Don't Lose Until You Sell" done more harm than good?
It is important to recognise that not selling has infact saved countless of people from the regrets of selling at a loss in the bear market or when their trading goes south but also, it is wise to know that this phrase isn't best to hold at heart when holding shitcoins or projects without a solid roadmap or utility. Also, it is best to know when to stop holding/ sell/ cut ties with a project especially when loss of the funds involved could have serious negative impacts on our lives. The phrase, "You dont lose Until You Sell" itself isn't the problem as it has proven to have helped so many people in this space, the problem lies in how and when people find solace in its use.
