At the end of the ninth day of the movement in front of the National Press Club, the Minister of Education Dr. Deepu Moni disappointed the teachers. He said that it is not possible to nationalize private educational institutions before the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The Education Minister announced that two committees comprising experts will be formed at the end of August to consider the issue of nationalization. He said that the two committees formed at the national level will verify the nationalization potential of private schools in the country. One of these committees will examine the financial feasibility and the other the institutional capacity. Further decision will be taken based on their report.
However, on Wednesday (July 19) in the afternoon, the Minister of Education announced this decision in a meeting with the leaders of protesting teachers and other teachers' organizations at the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha of the capital.
In the same meeting, the education minister also informed about the cancellation of summer vacation of all the secondary education institutions of the country. He said that this vacation will be coordinated with the winter vacation of December to implement the new curriculum.
Accordingly, there was summer vacation in the educational institution from July 20 to August 2. That's not happening anymore. Classes will continue as usual from next Sunday.
The minister said that the teaching and evaluation of the sixth and seventh classes in the new curriculum should be completed by November 30. Also, the annual examination of the schools should be completed within the same period ahead of the national elections.
