The government of Indonesia has instructed to hand over the iPhone 16 when it is seen in the hand. The country's government has banned the sale and use of Apple's iPhone 16 in Indonesia for not fulfilling the investment promise. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasamita issued a directive in this regard. He even requested to inform the authorities if iPhone 16 is seen in someone's hand. Recently, this information has been given in a report of The Economic Times.
Last Tuesday (October 22), the country's industry minister said that the use of iPhone 16 in Indonesia will be considered illegal. Because the country has not yet issued International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) certification for iPhone 16.

Allegedly, Apple has not fulfilled its commitment to invest in Indonesia. As a result, this ban has been imposed. Although Apple is supposed to invest 108 million dollars in the country, they have invested 95 million dollars so far.

According to the report, Indonesia's Ministry of Industry has blocked the iPhone's EMI. As a result, no one can use iPhone again. It has even been requested to inform the authorities if an iPhone is seen in someone's hand.

Before this, at the beginning of this month, the Minister of Industry said that the sale or use of iPhone 16 may be banned due to lack of investment.

Apple CEO Tim Cook visited Indonesia in April this year. At that time, he met with the then president of the country, Joko Widodo, and discussed the possible production plans of Apple in the country. But even that did not solve the issue. After this week, the ban on the sale and use of the iPhone 16 came.

Fabri Hendri Anthony Arif, spokesperson of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, said that the application for TKDN certification of iPhone 16 is under review. However, if Apple's investment commitments are not met, the iPhone 16 will not be approved for sale or use. https://www.ittefaq.com.bd/705218
