The Dutch government announced on July 6, 2023 that it would return 478 cultural artifacts to Indonesia. The artifacts were looted from Indonesia during the Dutch colonial era, which lasted from the 16th to the 20th centuries.

The artifacts include a variety of items, such as jewelry, weapons, and religious artifacts. Some of the most notable items include:

  • The Lombok Treasure, a collection of 335 gold and silver artifacts that were looted from a royal palace in Lombok, Indonesia.
  • The Pita Maha collection, a collection of modern art from Bali, Indonesia.

The decision to return the artifacts was made after a government-appointed commission recommended that the Netherlands take steps to address its colonial past. The commission found that the artifacts were looted from Indonesia during a period of violence and oppression, and that their return would be a gesture of goodwill and reconciliation.

The artifacts will be returned to Indonesia in a ceremony on July 10, 2023. The ceremony will be attended by officials from both countries, and it is expected to be a major event in the relationship between Indonesia and the Netherlands.

The return of the artifacts is a significant step in the Netherlands' efforts to address its colonial past. It is also a sign of the growing importance of cultural restitution in international relations. In recent years, there has been a growing movement to return cultural artifacts that were looted during the colonial era. This movement has been driven by a number of factors, including a growing awareness of the history of colonialism and a desire to right past wrongs.

The return of the artifacts to Indonesia is a positive development. It is a gesture of goodwill and reconciliation, and it is a sign that the Netherlands is committed to addressing its colonial past. The return of these artifacts is also important for Indonesia, as it will allow the country to reclaim its cultural heritage and tell its own story.

When European countries do this, they are making their country less rich. Millions, possibly billions of dollars of value just given away after the conquests of Indonesia.

The collapse of European hegemony is upon us as political correctness is turning some of the best empires in history into pussies.
