Why Have My Pending Rewards Changed? The Economic Effects of HF6

in blurt •  4 years ago

Blurt is currently in the middle of a new hardfork: HF6. There has also been a lot of work done in the background, to the RPC nodes and to ensure the witnesses on RPi machines continue to be effective.

Anyway, you will probably see two changes to your rewards.

One can already be seen! This is the fix to the pending rewards. The Blurt API is now broadcasting the correct pending rewards, so your paid rewards should now be the same as those pending. This means you no longer need the mental gymnastics of halving the value. Nobody has lost anything, because there was nothing to lose.

The second change will appear once witness consensus has been reached and the HF6 is thus activated. This is a change to the reward curve that will bring it back to almost what it was pre-HF5. What users will see is that whale votes will decrease and come in line with minnow votes in percentage terms. Of course, the actual values in BLURT will still depend on Blurt Power staked.

This means everyone's vote will yield more or less the same in percentage terms. I will explain this further in the next post on Blurt Economic Indicators, as will then have some figures. What we may also see is that the reward pool will start to rise again and then fall. This also means that most users should see a modest increase in their vote value; the whole process takes about a couple of weeks.

Any further questions regarding rewards and voting, just ask.

Great work Dev team. I am looking forward to seeing how the new economic changes pan out. I am also looking forward to the new front end that will go along with this, that is still the plan right?

I'm not directly involved in that, but yes, the plan is to bring back one of the original blur frontends.

Hey, What I understood is now we can see the rewards which we can get. Before the update one of my posts shows a pending rewards more that 700+ Bp and then it converted to 300+ Bp pending rewards. But today when I got the payout I saw I have got only half of 300 Bp (Current showed value in the post) as my author reward. Anything wrong?

post rewards = 50% author + 50% curators(voters)

What about the said 25%/75% split of the reward. When will that be implemented. Will it be part of the HF6?

I expect so.

I somehow don't get what you mean by percentage... wouldn't that also mean Blurt rewards?

% of BP.
Look at my economic indicators reports and you'll see many values expressed as vote-yields.

Thank you. I got it.
