The Farmer -priest :
Agriculture as a new strategy to fund Blurt projects

There’s a dying need to adequately equipe the blurt hospital with good medical facilities, there’s a need for more school scholarships to be funded , more skills acquisitions to be given ; we cannot sit back and expect that charity does all . We must play out part too . Hence the wake up call and the need to do a second job on full time basis 😆.

Hello blurtians, it’s a great thing to be here on blurt where dreams are encouraged and aspirations are welcomed with great joy .

I am a Catholic Priest obviously as many of you know . While the priesthood for me is not just preaching the word of God , it is for me , living out what you preach practically and seeing how this can improve your environment and people around.

My place of assignment is all rural and without any government presence . We don’t have good roads or schools for our children; No water ; or a perfect source of clean water . Electricity isn’t a project in the near future , only with hope , but at that I doubt if that hope finds a place here anytime soon .
The school in the community is the efforts the Church has made through my presence. No hospital, except what blurt is helping do here through my presence also . The situation is pitiable.

Generally speaking , there is a trend now, we have many energetic youths who are said to be lazy and who are not ready to work. Yet , they want the best clothing , best housing and the luxuries of life simply put. They want everything kept on the table for free , but I often times tell them , “ there is no free meal even in FREE TOWN Sierra-Leon “ this saying goes out with the desire of encouraging them to embrace hard work and passion towards a new way of life .
So when they come around , I show them the hoe and cutlass which are important farming implements . I also tell them that I go to the farms myself. I hope they learn .

There is a growing need for the provision of certain infrastructures to meet up the growing population of my local community as people continue to procreate . We also have existing structures to maintain, and personnel to pay their salaries .

Sequel to the above , I have taken into agriculture on a full time basic to improve my financial standpoint.
I believe that with this, it will go a long way to complementing the assistance coming from from blurt, from friends and else where .

OUR LAND

The land no doubt is vast and fertile. It has the potential to grow anything you cultivate on it . However, I cannot do all things at the same time . I am constrained by the unavailability of great funding ; so I am into the cultivation of yam, soya beans, and rice. I hope to diversify later as my finances improve . I pray for great yield and season !
If I get it right, development pace here will double . The community will be more lively and we shall achieve more .

APPRECIATION

May I thank all those who are into empowering people . Your actions motivate me . When I open my blurt page and see a work of charity , it pushes me and challenges me to do so too.
I am inspired by your charitable acts and I pray for you too . I see everyone on blurt , perhaps not all but a greater number trying to extend and put a smile on the faces of others , that’s awesome , that’s great. Let’s keep it up .

MY ADVICE TO AFRICA

My advice to youths , especially those in Africa , please let’s stand up to the challenges of the times and see how we can help ourselves .
Do not rely on government alone . Government won’t do everything for you. Think about what you can do for yourself and others .

With this thinking , crime will be reduced and the nation will grow better .
