HUMBLED BY NATURE'S DESTRUCTIVE POWER; A LIFE LOSS

Many buildings were ravaged when a fierce wind descended from the mountain side onto the land. The force was so intense that one building collapsed completely, tragically claiming the life of a girl on the spot. Numerous others suffered injuries in the wake of this calamity.

At the old place of my work, our warehouse fell, and we lost a life too. Sadness fills our community, and many unanswered questions linger.

Friends, nature is powerful, and certain events are uncontrollable; natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, hunger strikes, etc., all come with devastating consequences. Today, the community of Selagi witnessed a shocker, and we were humbled by nature’s destructive power. At about 10:30 pm, a mighty wind came, pushing down many buildings and destroying other property.

It has truly been a hard time, especially for a struggling community whose source of existence is barely charity and hard work.

In the midst of the chaos, one member cried out that God had forsaken them. However, I endeavored to encourage everyone to remain steadfast in the face of adversity, fostering a sense of resilience and hope within the devastated community.

The school building also had a fair share of damage, especially the side that was just built. However, we are grateful that not all parts were destroyed. We hope to have a renewed zeal to take the work further.

Despite the heavy toll and the heartbreaking loss, we find strength in supporting each other. The wind, originating from the mountain side, brought destruction, but it also brought forth a profound unity among us. As we grapple with the aftermath, the cries of distress are met with words of encouragement, reminding us that in our collective strength, we can overcome even the most challenging of times.
