Sri Lanka has few true friends in the world who have been there in sun and rain. Among them, China and Russia, which have veto power in the United Nations, have always protected Sri Lanka when necessary. The Indian emperor Ashoka is also credited with establishing the Buddhist system of government and protecting Sri Lanka from possible threats from the Chola Empire in South India.
The 65,610 SQKM island in the middle of the Indian Ocean (formerly Lakdiva Sea) has attracted international traders for over 2500 years. Among them were Indian traders who sometimes colonized the island and Arab traders who settled on the west and south coasts. It is written in the Kotte era chronicles that Tunisian traders (Baburu people) had a trading base on the small island off the coast of Beruwala, which was a major port at that time.
One theory of the origin of the name "elephant", commonly used in the Middle East, has links to powerful men who came to Sri Lanka to transport elephants exported from Sri Lanka (in Sri Lanka elephants are called ali). Admiral Zheng He is considered to be the most powerful global naval commander and Great China's international trade ambassador in AD. In the early 1400s (a century before the western colonists) came to Sri Lanka on many occasions with a conquest approach. His donations are recorded in the trilingual plaque at the National Museum, Colombo.
Since then, the island has been recorded in history since the legend of Viharamaha Devi in the accumulation of sea erosion. Thanks to the People's Republic of China, the only golden attempt to add land to expand the island in its 2500-year history became a reality. The Sri Lankans ended the 2009 land partition struggle. When Sri Lanka received no foreign investment to rebuild the war-torn island, China invested its hard-earned money to expand Sri Lanka's landmass by building the port city of Colombo. Chinese President Xi Jinping came to inaugurate this event in 2014 in a golden letter in the annals of Sri Lankan history. China will be remembered for thousands of years by grateful Sri Lankans as the only friend who helped expand their island nation. The Buddhist system of governance bequeathed by Emperor Ashoka is still used as a conflict prevention tool, and China's bounty will soon be used to prevent conflict in the centuries to come. Employment generation through FDI will accelerate economic development by preventing internal conflicts and eradicating poverty while ensuring an increase in living standards.
