Apart from the history of the country through enemy invasions, it entered a hundred thousand. This was a decisive factor in shaping not only history but also the future. Lakdiwa is now free from these invaders, but the mementos left by them can provide insight into their actions. This is such.

The Dutch who captured the coastal provinces and built forts in the Matara district, Dakmana, Kottasha, Akurassa etc. have also built their own fortresses. Matara Astronomical Fort is the most important building built by the Dutch in Matara. They built the Protestant Church in Matara Fort area for their religious activities.
It is now known as Holland Church and has a different location than these churches. This Protestant church inherits a rich history. Some call this a small memento that brings the dead back to life forever.
It is believed that after the Dutch built the Galle Church in 1642, this church was built over 300 years ago in 1706. This church was built to perform religious activities for the officers who served in the Dutch Fort. It is mentioned here to act as the first officer. H. Silvius.
In the early days when Holland Church was built, religious activities were carried out by the Dutch who held high positions. The Dutch governors and officials who came to Matara were the first to take the oath. At first, the Protestant services were held in Dutch and English only. Matara Olanda Church looks like an old house. It is different from churches in Galle city or Jaffna where access has been established. It has about 250 seats.
The oldest of the available tombstones here was erected in 1686 for Barbara Jonglin, wife of the officer Lambert. Other notables include Dessaus Franz Willem Falk, Governor Iman Willam Falk, and Johannes Fernandinus Krijtasman, who died in 1737 and 1758 respectively. The church worked primarily for the Dutch, but the first Sinhala sermon was held when a church service was organized for the Dutch community's home ministry. They are brought to the church and remain in the veranda until the end of the service.
The facade and interior of the church are very plain, in keeping with the church's Calvinist architectural heritage. The building has a round window on the side, a tower on the south side, and a central doorway. It is in a beautiful condition to hold 200 seats. The doors and windows, panels are made of heavy wood and the walls show signs of crumbling as the proper mixture could not be found in Sri Lanka to rebuild it.
A consideration of the history of the church is marked in the history of this church, and this production is made known in 1767, and is said to have been made by Daniel Burnan of Ceremonies. It is stated that the graves dates before the year 1767 have been mentioned in the plaques on the church's grounds, which can be concluded to have been there since before the year 1767.
The pocket, the literature of a shop, the shop, " . The name of this Dutch church can also be a museum that reveals the information of the rich men and women who died in the wars, children and women who died in childbirth.
During the colonial period, their main administrative center was the city of Matara. The Dutch also use the city of Matara as their burial ground. This cemetery was located on the left side of the Matara bus station and the remains of Protestants were also buried there.
The cemetery has now become an urban area. Only one of its species can be seen on the left of the bus stand in sight of the War Heroes Memorial on the Matara Coast Road. One who visits this area can see the place as a big cross nowadays. With the crowding of the area, the tombstones were removed and brought to Holland Church.
There are about 22 km of stone tombs attached to the walls and floor of this temple. Some are 7-8 feet long and 3-4 feet wide. The tombstone dated 1686 can be seen as the oldest monument among the tombstones inside the church with a width of one foot and not the product. There are also monuments dating back to 1959. Some of these tombstones are written in English, some in Dutch with English equivalents, and include new designations, names, births, etc.
The gravestones of this Protestant church are marked with the head of the dead as a sign of the identity of those who died in the war, and the judgment of God sent to heaven or hell for their good and bad deeds.
It is symbolized by an eagle and a bisected eagle. A soldier with sword and shield in hand delivers that divine judgment.
Among the names mentioned on the gravestones of Holland Temple is the name of Danny Abraham Dissanayake who held the position of Basnayake Nilame and Tolka Mudali of Deviwara Temple. He was born on December 24, 1782 and died on February 10, 1850.
