The issue of the border of Jerusalem is often debated and 02 countries claim the right of this area. The Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, have given a special account of Jerusalem in the historical teachings of those religions. According to Israel, the city should not be divided and it should remain under Israeli political control. Palestine claims that the territories of Jerusalem not owned by Israel before June 1967 should be given to the Palestinians. By 2005, Jerusalem's population was 719,000 adults; 465,000 of them were Jews. (many of whom resided in West Jerusalem) ; 232,000 are Muslims (most live in the rising Jerusalem.)

Israel's Knesset and Supreme Court are located in the center of the ``New City'' in West Jerusalem, and have been in place since Israel's founding in 1948. After the Six-Day War, Israel captured East Jerusalem, which was controlled by Jordan, and officially annexed it to Israel. Israel issued a new law declaring that a complete and unified Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.
At the Camp David and Taba Conferences held in 2002-2001, the United Nations proposed that the Arab parts/areas of Jerusalem should be given to a proposed Palestinian state and the Jewish areas of Jerusalem should be kept by Israel. All archaeological excavations related to the ˝Temple mount˝ shall be jointly controlled by the Israeli Palestinian governments. Although both parties agreed on the proposed principle, these conferences ultimately failed.
Israel considered the Palestinian assignment of the welfare of Jewish holy sites. When Jerusalem was under Jordan, no Jews were allowed to enter the Western Wall. In 2000, there was a dispute between the Palestinians about Joseph's tomb, which is considered sacred by Jews and Muslims. On both sides, the tomb was looted and the buildings there were destroyed and converted into a mosque, and unauthorized Palestinian excavations took place inside Jerusalem for several other structures, threatening the Western Wall.
This action is considered to have threatened the strength of the Western Wall. Israel, on the other hand, has rarely been hindered from reaching holy places. It was never a regular interruption. During the last 20 years of searches by the Israeli security agencies, a large number of Jewish extremists involved in certain plots have been observed and they have been arrested. But there has been no significant danger from those extremists. In addition, Israel transferred full ownership of the ˝Temple mount˝ to the Muslim Trust (Waqf).
