I teach my kid to sense the dead souls - and not to be dragged down into their world.
;-)
There are not so many lights on in the village.

I appreciate that you hold such discussions with your kid. So many parents don't and allow the ghost programs from the plantation masters and the ghosts to plant the seeds in the children. Especially made worse now that in many countries (like here in the US) they have effectively not only separated children from their fathers, but also male role models from many teaching areas.

What a beautiful story.

It reminds me of a new colleague, the others told me he was a bit strange. When I did the first night shift with him, he was sitting at the table, no radio, no TV on. I introduced myself briefly and sat down at the table with him. He said nothing. I didn't say anything either. After about 5 minutes he finally said, oh how nice when someone says nothing. We both laughed heartily and became good friends.

They say there are many people but few human beings. It is difficult to translate this into English. Someone once said to me, the heart speaks mother tongue. I mean, if at some point it is written on my gravestone: "here rests a human being", then I am satisfied.

It is better to look for common ground than for what divides us. That seems to me to be very important, especially in the time ahead.

so true - not many homo sapiens - not many at all.

What a beautiful story.

Thank you.

I appreciate you sharing a personal story. One I can relate to as well. Every now and again I can be talkative, but I prefer isolation and silence most of the time. I've found that many are uncomfortable with silence, needing to siphon the energy from others even if they must resort to mundane meaningless actions/talk to achieve this. It can be really draining.

"here rests a human being", then I am satisfied

A nice saying. I sometimes think of many I have known who have passed and feel the energy that was them, thinking of the little things that were of importance to them. Peculiarities specific to them, and wonder how many ever revisit those qualities when thinking of them.

On a side note, I came across a saying a few years ago that appealed to me.

Most people are human beings, but those who impact those around them are human doings.

I love that view. It's inspiring and represents in simple terms how we can all claim whatever power we can aspire to.

It is better to look for common ground than for what divides us. That seems to me to be very important, especially in the time ahead.

I agree. Those who run the governments (the rich corporate folks and bankers) fear there ever coming a time they can't keep us divided.

Thank you for visiting and sharing. I've been drawn to your sharing since first encountering you here.

“What happened,’ he blurted out with excitement?

The old man laughed again, his eyes twinkling with good nature.

It's Zen and the Art of Internet Maintenance. A shadow of me lives here on this blog. The rest of me is living and laughing and enjoying a really good life. If part of my life bounces off you then you are blessed @practicalthought.

And the phone is ringing... please answer your friend:)

Then blessed indeed I am. :)

While enjoying a delicious coffee with cookies I started to read your story, I had to translate it twice and read slowly so as not to miss anything.
By taking my tour, you made me remember the story of Platon's "allegory of the cave", and how to bring to the world of knowledge people who were anchored to their ideas, thoughts, fears, and their own ghosts.
So what is a ghost? for me, they are our own fears of seeing the world from another perspective and open to other realities.
When you become a being of light, because from within you love what you are and that becomes transparent to others, and you receive love, but also confrontations from the world of shadows that want to extinguish your flash of light.
It is better to speak to our children with the truth, with their words adapted to their language so that they understand it, but definitely always with the truth and thus they will have a way to protect themselves from the world.
It is always a pleasure to greet you and share with you.
Good vibes.

So what is a ghost?

For myself ghosts are the people who walk through life never living most if any of it for themselves. They choose not to question anything they believe they have been told or should do, and always walk through life on autopilot.

Memories can also be ghosts of a different nature, which is what you refer to here.

for me, they are our own fears of seeing the world from another perspective and open to other realities.

Which is what makes so many people I refer to into the ghosts. I strive not to embrace those fears, and one of my largest weapons to doing so is I'm not ashamed to recognize my ignorance. I embrace that there are many things I'm ignorant of, and that is always the first step to learning and understanding.

It is better to speak to our children with the truth, with their words adapted to their language so that they understand it, but definitely always with the truth and thus they will have a way to protect themselves from the world.

Truer words can't be found here. My father taught me this when I was young, and I apply it to everyone I can, whether it was my son, people I meet or even animals. Different understandings don't imply less than as so many seem to believe. An example, just because my son when he was young lacked understanding, his feelings were just as real as mine could be. Bridging the gap in understanding is more easily accomplished when one respects the person holding the more limited understanding.

I appreciate you coming and sharing your wisdom here. It's always a treat. Thank you.
