I don't mind rule changes that respect speech and property. I'm still unclear under the current system who or what is being targeted unfairly.

That was one of a few topics, yes. In regards to their service, I'm pro property rights. In the case of who mega votes for, I'm for property rights. In the case of someone deciding they wish to support or not support a side in a war, I'm pro property rights, lol.
In the case of upvu, I've stood strong on my defense and advocacy of their service, seeing it as a boon tot he project while at the same time strongly saying those who use their services should strictly be a pure investor with no aspirations for building a community around themselves.
I even advocated if such a service was disliked and folks hated seeing posts on trending to allow one to just log into their wallet and collect rewards as if they self voted 10 times, which actually probably pays more than upvu (they need a cut) and would still draw pure investors. Would minimize some of the posts on trending, although as an example i just saw elsewhere oldstone produces some of the highest quality posts I can read here.
I don’t think my ones proposing he should be forced to vote or not vote for anyone but as he had freedom to vote ppl have freedom to talk about it / have opinions. The difference here is no one can downvote either cause they don’t like his vote choice, or the opinions against it… it’s just discussion. I’m talking more about upvu tho
And by extension all the wallet holders who have collaborated with their service.
I mean I’m not judging anything right or wrong I’m just engaging in discussion about whether the whole idea of services like upvu are beneficial for the platform or not and whether there is things that could be put in place to minimise them taking over trending. For me I don’t even really care about trending but obviously this is going to put so many people off coming to the platform if they go on trending in the first thing they see is just useless posts for the whole page. Like world Pro said they might as well just keep the post empty and put posted just for the up the vote would be more authentic.But yeah it’s not really a case of right or wrong because at the moment anything anybody does is okay but there are things that could be put in place to change things and personally if it made the site better and was the general consensus of all the users I would be okay with that.
I guess this would hold more weight to me if one could have pointed at our sister and mother chain and shown they ever had a trending that didn't suck.

But seriously. I'm glad I've been able to get discussion going on, on topics that people are of concern and people are passionate about. Me feelings are play with-in the rules. If the majority of user here vote to change the rules....then play with-in the new rules or you can always opt out and doing something else with your time and investment. So as long as upvu is upvuing then upvu all day long. I can't deny it hasn't crossed my mind to follow in the steps of oldstone and retake a lot of my free time back.
If you followed in oldstones ways you would be bringing us what I consider some of the best pieces on Blurt.
I do grow tired though from repeating myself and am close to resigning myself to what will be will be. If the chain deviates from the respect of property then I'll just move on because once that slippery slope begins there usually is no stopping from what the mob demands has to be whittled at next.
It's actually foolish for me to devote so much time to this, but I like to think I can reason well enough to perhaps change hearts on an issue, which is often not the case, lol.

I don't either. I demonstrated yesterday in my comments (without actually voting) how quick I could make 10 comments that could all be upvoted 100% which is also not discouraged here. The payout would have to be higher as there would be no cut going to upvu (or their competitors like tomoyon).

Human nature says that most will not be squandering their upvotes on authors who never reciprocate. The folks using these services sacrifice community votes which is why I don't recommend them for those who also wish to grow by community.
But they are taking up nearly all of the trending right now and I guess that is important to new uses. I’ve also seen several people judge our platform because of our trending and laugh at it. I mean there’s many ways of working the issue and it’s something people can chat about and we are chatting about it here. Another thing is changing the way the trending system works making it more on comments than pay out or making it a mix of pay out comments and upvotes. This is all just discussion
Not all of those posts suck, not even the ones using upvu.
I sometimes translate the posts by oldstone and they are among the best on the platform in my opinion. However, because he uses upvu I only curate him on the rare occasion my feed is barren of good posts.
I saw someone translate a couple and it was really gibberish maybe I’ve judged them all on those. I mean just something being in another language doesn’t make it bad. But the thing is it’s early days and it could get bigger and bigger in a few ,months time
I just thought of a newer way to connect with you on this.
What you are describing is more of a front end issue I think than a chain issue. Let me explain.
I noticed that my friend Freakeo who co-runs the Blurtlatam curation project and witness has his own front end.

If you compare his trending to the trending here you will notice a little bit of a difference. This tells me that each front end could modify what they find allowable or dis-allowable as far as what trends and is hot and such. I would be comfortable with front ends (the owners of that property) deciding for example that any posts that utilize upvote services, or self votes with stake large enough to hit trending do not get to hit trending.
This would respect property rights of those delegating and self voting, while would offer a view of what the owners of the front ends see as trend worthy.
On a different note, I also view this as an early time still. An example of this is I'm sure you noticed my penchant for truther themes. At the other chains it was primarily found in familyprotection, informationwar and deepdives communities.
When I first got here, other than rycharde the landscape here was bare of these topics. I waited patiently as I explored other cultures and languages and found other good people. But as I predicted, the main appeal to myself has been a growing group which will continue to grow. As more come, as each of us grow in power we will see this reflected in our loosely held communities of like mind.

Of course manual curation still gets a range of posts but if the whole entire trending ends up like this in 6 months I just personally don’t think it looks great for new ppl joining the site, maybe they could simply change how trending is chosen.
I mean it’s just my opinion I would be disappointed to see the whole trending page this. But I’m just a tiny blogger with small stake and an opinion lol
