AMA: "Blurt 2.0"

in blurt •  4 years ago

Hello Jacob, thank you for opening a dialogue (again) on this. I think it's fair to say that due to the unique approach of social blockchain there are many like myself who are ignorant of what exactly is taking place under the hood.

Before I begin questions and suggestions, please humor me a moment on my thoughts pertaining to communities and those who are detrimental (low quality) to communities.

History is a record of tensions between good and bad actors. The veracity can be questions on what is being presented, for sure, as the victors spin things more often than not to frame the narrative. But all who were presently affected by the actions all know what they experienced just the same.

Even the founding fathers of the U.S. warned that a fight would be ongoing to continue the system they implemented as this struggle is never ending. A quote from one of my favorite movies describing this horrible dynamic is this one.

The sad fact is that wherever a community begins forming, the wolves will circle looking to feed and control the others.

Due to this truth, it's my opinion that those of pure heart and intent shouldn't always be leaving when it appears they are overwhelmed. At some point, there will be moments that it appears days are dark and the bad are overwhelming the good. It is exactly these moments that create despair in the average community members when they look around, especially to their leaders who are the most overwhelmed.

These defining moments are where true bonds are cemented, as pure hearted people have the opportunity to pull together and show they have a collective strength that holds MORE power than the wolves would want them to believe.

In the previous systems that run on Larimer graphene, the main problem as I see it is that those who were given the controls through stake ownership enjoy milking it as many of them play in narcissistic ways with the lower crumb holders (in their eyes).

This dynamic proves yet again that the house is bad as the foundation/rulers of the dynamic themselves are the seeds of the dysfunction.

I would submit that the potentials they have realized twice now

  • When Steem was on fire and onboarding excited masses helping push demand to 8.00 each.

  • Again when Hive came together to say no to Justins authority grip and pushed Hive to heights the previous chain hadn't seen on a long while.

were squandered in the shortsightedness on issues such as character and valuing a community member beyond their current holdings value.

I would dare say that the quality of the graphene community has its light. How could it not, you are there as well as others of good intent. You branched your own system utilizing the graphene system and produced this.

People vote with their time and investment. It doesn't matter where. Graphene is the same, the new system you propose would also be the same. The law of nature in these matters will demand that as time goes on that those who are tired of being exploited in certain graphene systems will either leave entirely, or by word of mouth due to communities migrate to a corner of graphene that is honorable and more suited towards dignity and growth.

My presence here is testament to that, and this very same week I've watch two more real community leaders from the older tainted systems migrate here as well. I predict as time goes on this will in fact accelerate, all while the bad actors over there congratulate themselves on their growing slice of a pie that rots from within, laughing at how attacks are made on the non rotting pie known as Blurt. They mock and attack out of a position of weakness, jealousy and fear. A healthy system has no time for such activities as instead it will bask in the warmth of its success and growth.

My apologies for being so long winded. I will now get to my questions.

  • One of the idea that intrigued me about your leadership was the idea of there being multiple projects with airdrops. I ask why not do that with this, and continue this project alongside the new one? I know that time is valuable, however this would be a great demonstration that your vision not only works, but rewards those of like mind who commune with your heart and intent.

It comes to mind for me that those who have used the graphene systems have a large amount of quality people, if one views quality as a characteristic separate from direct monetary wealth.

  • I notice a similarity in the front ends of the graphene projects. Is this due to running on graphene?

  • If it is not due to running on graphene, one feature that would enhance user experience would be the ability for us to categorize our blogs. Over time older posts likely will not be viewed as one has to scroll so far to even know they exist.

This is huge as Google themselves show that most never go past page one, and the closer to the top of page one you are the larger share of traffic you will get.

Thank you for any considerations you share. I wrote a lot here just to ask ask three questions, however I wanted to place context on my position.

Seems that is where we are headed.

But I do wish to give you the counter example, I guess as a leader, I've never really had anything but bad experiences with leaders in the graphene ecosystem and seen a ton of infightinng and the like.

So I've got to ask myself:

  1. Is it worth it personally to be exposed to this kind of filth?

Short answer: No

Long answer: I've no regrets about launching Blurt.

  1. Should I ask the community to take that risk?

Short Answer: It don't feel right to do so.

Long Answer: Blurt is alive, graphene-blurt. Thing has a pulse! I do eat meat, but I sure don't want to kill it.

Sounds great idea, keep the BLURT graphene based chain, but I'm guessing the new COSMOS chain could be air-dropped in some form.

Excited about the world of Cosmos

Proportional airdrop with different total supply. I'm happy you like this idea.

1% stake == 1% stake

Airdrop requires user action.

New chain will have only one kind of key.

This is the kind of thing that will be easier to add (far, far easier) after moving to Cosmos.

Doesn't mean we have to kill ol' blurty blurt tho.

adddedum

So is it really about what I am being valuable this is much more about my life being valuable.

  • Block Space Attack
  • wblurt attack
  • death threats

I didn't celebrate Christmas or New Year's this year because of the attack. And there are just assholes swarming in every direction coming from other users of this software that we chose. I don't like it. In contrast, folks at Cosmos are super nice.

I notice a similarity in the front ends of the graphene projects. Is this due to running on graphene?

https://gitlab.com/blurt/openblurt/condenser
https://github.com/steem/condenser
https://gitlab.syncad.com/hive/condenser

There are more similar. The back end (graphene) doesn't really dictate the look an feel of the front end (condenser)
