there is a learnt behaviour attitude to voting that is born and bred from other platforms when they had different economies. With linear voting and curation curves, it makes absolutely no difference how low your voting power goes - the only thing to be mindful of is if you get so low that the fees and the rounding errors become significant, but that's way down in the 1 BLURT vote region.

Vote as you please and forget the voting power :-)

Sure, your maximum vote decreases, but so what? Voting 50% at 50% VP is identical to voting 25% at 100% VP.

Anyway, enjoy what you do, just don't let a misperception of the numbers put an unnecessary brake on it ;-)

Yes, I understand how the numbers work. I tend to vote most posts for example at 100%. Obviously if I'm at 70% voting power the rewards issued are much less than say 90% voting power. I used that as an easier example, but one that also reflects at 25 and 50% comments as well.

I knew one guy at Steem who was like a mentor to me who refused to allow his voting power ever fall below 90% because he wanted the maximum for most all of his votes. I don't know how he found the time, as i struggle most days to be on here for the hour to hour and a half I am. He (like many ) seemed to live on that site. Sadly, he was absent for maybe a year and his posting key still worked but not his active or owner key. I always wondered if something shady happened there and if somehow one of the front ends had managed a way of keystroking the passwords to come back at a later time to help themselves once a certain period of inactivity had taken place.

Yes, once again you speak from my heart.
I have always liked to vote generously on all blockchaines.
Mostly because I like the posts, but sometimes also to support someone who can make good use of the money...or is socially engaged.

But now I also have the "problem" that I have to regulate better....

And of course a lot of people show up who want an upvote from the whale....

Sometimes I find posts great too, but I have the feeling,
that they are plagiarised. Then I don't upvote either.

Yes,yes,yes......we already have it hard.... (hahaha)

I won't be mentioning names, but I know what I'm seeing with all these vote trading accounts which go out to only vote people based on the delegation they got from such people. The reward is juicy, no doubt about that. And such people are playing around with their stakes. That's also a cool thing for them.

But, it gets annoying when you go to the front page to read quality contents, but you're only left with obvious low quality stuff which got to that front page because of the heavy votes they got from these vote trading bots/accounts.

Whatever the case may be, anyone that truly want to excel here on the long term and get integrated into the Community would have to be ready to interact with genuine people on here.

It's almost two weeks since I came in and I'm still doing more of crossposts so that I would use my spare time to interact like I'm doing now. Hopefully, I will get to build genuine connection here with the right people.

"Vote me so that I will vote you" ?

That's a ridiculous mode of Curation. Unfortunately, many people have already ditched their pride and they are ready to do anything to make money.

As always, I like your posts because you approach the topics very well ... sometimes I don't have time to leave comments, in others I am speechless, and in this case, I can say that there are people so nice to write that I enjoy giving them a I vote 100%, but some who would I like to help but their publications are so small, that is, just a photo, or they seem to be a copy and paste of some internet site, that the truth comes a time when I lose interest. There are others who leave a comment: hello I follow you, you follow me ..... or else they write to me: vote for me. and it's those comments that make me uncomfortable, and so I don't add them to my feed ... 95% of those in my feed are the ones who really I like their posts.

Hahah... I ALMOST mistook this for a reply to my Comment. Hahah. Or, is it a reply to my comment?

I don't know... Heheheh... The notification says so.

But the comment? it sounds more like a reply to the main post. Heheh.

I'm almost lost 😂.

  ·  3 years ago  ·   (edited)

I would urge you to spend the bulk of your time in commenting at first. I believe that is best, as I believe that if one reblurts a lot of posts people will come to view that blog as not one to connect with because their own posts are far and few between.

I mentioned in another comment earlier that on Steem and Hive there were several I would unfollow there because the reblurts actually forced those posts and authors into my feed, people I wasn't following and didn't want to follow. To stop it, I had to unfollow people I did enjoy reading what they wrote when they did. I'm unsure if that happens here or not, the forcing into feeds.

Regardless, I believe you are a great commenter. I hope that as time goes by you will use the same voice and personal touch in your posts. I've looked a few times, and you post many posts that are somewhat generic, and in many cases (not saying you are doing it) look like many posts that are often even plagiarized or rewritten. Then I see other posts like your traffic in Nigeria and see what on the surface looks very original, very unique and of interest because of its unique perspective from both your camera lens to your descriptions of it as well as humor like where you say

It's a very broad road so, there is hardly any traffic issues but anyone that wants to drive through this route needs to be mindful of the Corp members that are also walking along the road. I'm sure that you wouldn't want to hit someone that is serving his country

That post indeed is a post filled with life and personality as only you can bring to the rest of us here at Blurt. :)

I hope that as time goes by you will use the same voice and personal touch in your posts.

I was thinking about all these before I saw your feedback. Ever since I joined here, I have been doing more of crossposts of my OLD contents. These are posts dated back to January/February. And, I'm sure that I'm doing better at the moment than how my post appeared then.

I get your point. And I appreciate it alot. I won't make an excuse of not being a native speaker, all I need to do is to make sure that my posts will bear my persona in it.

As for interacting/commenting, I enjoy that and I get to learn from it.

All the tools I need to grow here are in my fingertips. I would have to put it to practice.

Thanks for everything. Enjoy ✌️

Sir,

Due to your principled attitude, you're about to have 1,000,000 more blurt to vote with, as soon as I fiddle with some things.

I'm humbled by both your assessment as well as your large gesture. Thank you Jacob.

I had also hoped that having reblurts again would provide an added "vote of confidence", but I haven't seen so much. I'd like to vote on new content - that's how I started over 4 years ago - the finance side was actually a development of how to sustain votes for a growing community; only later did it grow into an independent program.

I too have been thinking of rebooting the social side with reblurts, but I'm not yet sure I need to formalise it as "a curation project" - I can just do it!

I've never been a big fan of the reblurt, although at times I've perused them.

I always found them annoying as it allowed those I followed to force things into my feed at the other sites, as for some reason it would push them as though the person I was following was the author. There were several I eventually unfollowed because they would go so overboard they were clogging my feed with a ton of posts I was not interested in and it was the only option I had to clear my feed for those I was interested in.

Ah yes, I've done the latter too ;-)

This may prompt a UI issue (@saboin). If you look at someone's blog feed - https://blurt.blog/@blurtyield - there is a "Hide Reblurts" button one can toggle, but when looking at their feed - https://blurt.blog/@blurtyield/feed - no such control appears.

I think switching reblurts on/off in feeds, including one's own, is as important as on individual blog pages.

Indeed, if we're on this issue, I would like to see a "Feed" button next to "Blog" - it's just a simple link. I like seeing what people I follow are reading, even without reblogging stuff. It's all just facilitating the network effect of friends-of-friends links.

Any thoughts?

I think that would be an awesome addition if/when they get time. I know they are backed up, and had gotten an agreement until such a time as they could create a parent child feature they will put in an ability to pin our own posts on our blog. This would allow those like me who care about this to make a pin (generic home page) that I could then title home for search engine credibility and structure my own form of parent child with my posts by their topic. This was a little time back, so I'm guessing it has been placed behind some other more pressing issues, and possibly forgotten in the day to day emergencies and more pressing fixes they have on their to do list.

mmm... what you describe can already be done, albeit a bit clunky. I mean, you can create a "homepage" post then link to it using the one URL slot on our profile page (I see you don't have one on yours, so is free for such use) then use comments as categories and add new comments as updates.
Like I said, kinda klunky but doable. lol

That's an interesting alternative I hadn't thought of. I've always ignored that part of the profile because I knew linking to an outside source of mine would make me vulnerable to doxxing. Hadn't considered using it for an internal link. I'll now work on that and still press them for giving us the ability to pin on our blog as is already possible for generic feeds such as trending.

Thank you for pointing out what should have been obvious to me. Amazing how sometimes things elude us (me) due to judgments made for other reasons.

It was only "obvious" by the way you phrased the question. lol ;-)
I've never tried it that way just coz I usually link to a token or project, but yes, can be an internal link.

There was a project, ages ago on steem, that had Q&As, but for some bizarre reason (prob downvotes) decided to run the whole thing as just one post with hundreds of comments and sub-comments! Was truly horrible to read. lmao. but they had a tidier interface so one wouldn't see the mess in the background. anyway... digressing now.

Hello my dear friend, always so assertive in your words. I think that as we grow and that this will be very soon, many users will reach whom we will have the opportunity to meet, some good others not so much, but Blurt as you say, a wave of good energy has been born that I prefer to think will address the users and will help them understand that it is here to share, learn, help others and also grow.

I don't think I can have all the answers to what will happen, but if I can tell you with certainty that if here you and I were when Blurt was attacked, and here we stood with incredible faith, then here we will be to help others understand that if everyone we work as a team and with dedication we can make blurt a strong and wonderful community.

A hug from a distance and good vibes ;)

Editing to add this yet not allow for another vote in this ongoing exchange. :)

I love the family associations accorded to others close but not really family. Before the pandemic, there were two younger Dominican women who were cousins who worked next to me. They would always laugh because of my assertiveness (even with management) and they began calling me tio Jason lol. Sometimes I would get them mad at me because I would call them out when they were wrong, but they appreciated it once they cooled off because it was always done with their best interests at heart.

I'm always humbled and refreshed after reading the wisdom you share that matches so closely with my views on life.

I see that due to the structures set in motion by the foundation that reflect their own belief on dignity and human value, it then serves as a magnet to attract like minded energy. While there are often cases of failure despite such initial beginnings, creation of a positive sort that is successful must always have this ingredient to act as a catalyst for what will emerge from the seed into a beautiful tree.

but if I can tell you with certainty that if here you and I were when Blurt was attacked, and here we stood with incredible faith, then here we will be to help others understand that if everyone we work as a team and with dedication we can make blurt a strong and wonderful community.

I actually came right after. I knew I was coming to Blurt late last year, but due to the punitive tax legislation on crypto here in my country needed to wait until the new tax year began. I already had my Hive powered down for many months and was no longer an active user there because I couldn't support their structure by adding value to it. I shook the dust of them from my wallet if you would.

Yet, I came here despite seeing the mess the attack made, worried as I waited days to join. I was prepared to begin converting my Hive to Blurt on the first, and had to wait till the 5th I believe it was before any stability was made here to get things operational.

It in no way deterred me from wanting to be part of Blurt. The ideals and respect, the level of real love I saw here was stronger than any attack could be. In fact, I choose to view the attack as a testament that Blurt was everything I already knew, and was being attacked from a position of fear because the attacker knew it as well and felt threatened that their position in the old system of corruption was at some point going to be jeopardized.

How is your father doing?

I love reading your emotion turned into a passion for what you do at Blurt, I see you as the older brother that everyone has here, always with a friendly word and good advice but also with a call for attention when necessary.

I can feel your passion for miles and that is a great blessing, it is what I feel and it makes me happy to be able to do everything in my power to collaborate in the growth of this chain of human beings.

Thank you for worrying about my father, they have been difficult days but my father is a champion, thank God today he breathes a little better, now we are under observation with my mother because in her exams she showed that she had a possible infection so we have her with preventive treatment and hoping it does not become covid.

A hug from a distance and I hope with all my heart that everything goes well for you and why not, that Blurt reaches so high and that we can organize a great meeting one day to share a coffee.
Good vibes. ...

I just saw one of those upvote bots on someones post and wondered what it was all about. Sounds lame. I haven't followed many on here yet as I have high standards, hoping to see more interesting stuff as more people join. My votes are not worth much yet but I also am careful where I throw them an don't have time to scroll thru too many posts, I tend to stick to my friend feed for voting and will find the good stuff thru them, a bit like how networking in real life works.

I tend to stick to my friend feed for voting and will find the good stuff thru them, a bit like how networking in real life works.

Exactly, some of the best finds I've ever made were in the comment sections of those I already follow.

OK good so I'm doing it right then ;-)

I've had some of the same thoughts as well recently.

I'm going to have to lower my voting percentages in order to be able to spread them more. I see a lot more stuff that I want to vote on and I don't want to drain all my power.

I have also had the same thought as you regarding the vote trading services. I was going to write a script to find out who delegates to such accounts and add them to my personal blacklist. I think that type of "service" is detrimental to the platform and its economy.

Yes. Learn from the mistakes of stinc and steemit, and the same aristocrats from king henrys III time of reign.

They simply wanted more power and that saw an oppurtunity and were smarter and richer thus they formed a group and contructed a CONtract that they currently force upon you! (REFERRING to 1776 history) in the case of hive is through the dv campaigns and the continuation and support over a gov psyop narrative against truthseekers, freespeech, etc. All for some more bread.

I was going to write a script to find out who delegates to such accounts and add them to my personal blacklist.

That would be an awesome tool if you ever decided to make it public. Would save time looking at the votes and comments on a post, and then trying to do a delegation check on the wallet.

To also put what he said above in shoort and we all heard it a million times. But here it again with an added twist.

In order to succeed in life then you have to be yourself.

How many of us copy the personalities of others past present and ?! (Still doing gonna be doing it? Stop it. Its emberrasing)

How many pretend to be someone that they are not?

Someone cut my wings off if I turn into a vampire but the lie of living of not being ourselves is a vampire sucking at your physical being. They are soules. Congrats on those that remained "human".

A stimulating read, indeed.
As a newcomer to this community, I have also noticed interesting human behavior dynamics and the "lack based intentions" behind them.

"I believe one rewards/monetizes what one wishes to see more of." That's true. The only pitfall that I encounters early on on my first days was that I rapidly ran out of "good will" resources in form of Blurts :)))) So, this alone will never be the criteria while one is limited on resources, and we have to take into account the beginners who are learning how to build their wallet for more fluent interactions, more freedom to up-vote all the content that they genuinely like.

"Short term maximizing might appear to be the quickest road to success, but it really erodes the long term manifestation of success in my opinion." Taking into account that we create our reality based on our beliefs - the opposite belief will also reap fruit if one has faith in it. Our mind creates.

"We learn from facing, welcoming our own ignorance. This can only be exposed through alternate views being discussed." Opposing views are not always a herald of your ignorance. Sometimes it's a sign that you are far ahead of others and they just can't wrap their limited perception around the information that you offer for their own benefit. Sometimes the dog bites the hand that gives it food ;)

Interesting subjects to ponder from various perspectives :)
Thank you for sharing!

I encounters early on on my first days was that I rapidly ran out of "good will" resources in form of Blurts

This can quickly rectify itself after the 8th day dependent on ones initial actions here. Definitely can be an impediment if one starts with little to no initial investment for sure.

Our mind creates.

To an extent. Where I always deviated from light workers is I don't subscribe that abuse many of us have suffered is some personal choice we made to undergo it. Others can and do force their will, good or bad on others despite their personal choices and beliefs. While I appreciate the overall light worker heart, I believe many stick their heads in the sand on the overall predatory nature of reality.

Opposing views are not always a herald of your ignorance. Sometimes it's a sign that you are far ahead of others and they just can't wrap their limited perception around the information that you offer for their own benefit. Sometimes the dog bites the hand that gives it food ;)

Indeed :)

I still stay firm in the fundamental axiom of the old pragmatic and calculating quantum physics of our existence : Our consciousness creates everything. Abuse included. The hard part for many to accept is that our consciousness on broader level is the same throughout all the lives / existences in the "physical reality" that we have had. This stems from identifying oneself with the programmed mind that is just a storage of information fed into it since your physical birth. The intelligence comes from rising beyond the programmed mind. When one "wakes up" from being a mere "receiver" and "sufferer" of everything that his mind is manifesting - he stops acting as a victim of the "horrible unjust life", and takes responsibility for the thoughts he entertains throughout the day and becomes a master creator of his reality, thus contributing to the whole humanity in it's effort to wake up.

I am not a "light-worker digging my head in the sand". Quite the opposite. I am a "wisdom messenger" trying to help those who still have their head in the sand of ignorance. Creating a monster with their own thoughts and then fighting it back :))

Everything that you declare as true - becomes true. If you think of live as a "predatory nature of reality" - this is what you get created in the manifested physical experience - ask and it's given. Asking happens in your mind. What you expect - you get.
There is no way around it. Ignoring the fundamental truths of physics doesn't save you from the consequences..

So, what is the vision that you'd like to create with your mind? To which vision you would like to contribute your mental energy to promote its faster manifestation into visible and tangible reality?

I believe partially in what you say, but stand by my observation it allows the intent of others to be forced on one to be ignored at ones own peril.

I wrote a post years ago that mentioned abuse I underwent from the time I was a young child of 3 on up. I will share a link here if you are interested as I have no desire nor the heart to retype it. But I will submit to you that in no way was the innocent trusting loving child I was at that time in any way choosing the horrors that awaited me. My world was one of love and safety until then. What befell me was the intent of others foisted upon my defenseless self.

I have this post open - and I wanted to upvote it before it was too old - but didn't have time to fully read it just yet.

I read your other post on Hive and I just sat there thinking... my gosh. He thinks like me. hahahahaha

or I think like you. Or we both think alike! LOL

now i'm VERY curious to see what you think of DreemPort. I won't burden you with it just yet - but when you have time, I'd treasure your insight.

I only got to read the first portion of this post - and I thought... ok dreem - don't get sucked in just yet - you have several things to finish! LOL Leave the vote, leave a quick-ish comment, and then come back later! (p.s. I never vote for vote. LOL I use my vote as genuine and appropriate acknowledgment and appreciation - so trust that when you get a vote from me - it's been weighed and applied as I deem fit hahaa)

ok - let me run and come back later. I did follow you on Hive - but I see you said you don't post there anymore. (and last post was Jan 2021) but followed you here and will most likely love engaging with you!

talk soon! thank you so much for your comment!

but I see you said you don't post there anymore. (and last post was Jan 2021) but followed you here and will most likely love engaging with you!

I don't believe we should support that which we find dis-eased. My last real post there before I stopped investing my blogging time there was well over a year ago. I had named another beneficiary and Bernie knocked two thirds of the rewards off. The person I wanted to benefit was trying to raise legal fees to keep their niece out of foster care, and after years of having such straws of hate and cruelty placed on many in my circles and watching meltdowns, I decided to take my own advice and just quietly power down and leave. No one knew i was leaving, as I don't believe one should do what so many from my circles did, and what we see Lucylin currently doing. It's their playground, give unto Caesar.

They don't get my property anymore, don't get my engagement that serves as a draw for others. My energy is mine and is now placed where it is more deserving. :)

Thanks for the follow.

As you look at the links that i dropped - you can see that I felt the same as you 2 years ago.

I simply left. I got called lots of names. disloyal, quitter, etc. But there were also many who know my character and knew that if I was leaving - something was serious. (because I am neither disloyal, nor a quitter. I'm quite the fighter.)

You might ask why I'm back now?

Because i can't fight a LOSING battle to help Hive.

But I can change tactics and create a win/win/win/win for us all. I believe this will all my heart. Call me lofty or idealistic hahahaha I call it "being Dreem".

There is one foolproof way to get people to hear/see. So - I'm slowly doing that. Some people see what I'm doing right away. hahahaha

Some people STILL ask me "but.... what ARE you doing?" after I've blatantly told them exactly what I am doing. lol

But I agree with you completely.... my energy is mine and is now placed where it is more deserving. and that is DreemPort. :)

Hope you have an awesome day!!!!!

I agree with you cen percent. Upvote should be given to the deserving people. After reading your whole post, I understood that you have come with a different thought. All witnesses should follow your idea. Thank very much for sharing your bright thoughts.

Curation on Blockchain takes a huge efforts especially when one makes diversification his or her priority in the way upvotes are allocated.
Thank you for the critical views you develop in this article. I think it is beneficial that every Blurtians periodically review their votes distribution.
