It felt wrong and right

Hey guys wassup, so last night I had a bit of an ugly and beautiful incident, one that really shook me and also made me mad too as well as my beloved customer, just one of the few I've managed to gather so far.

So not too long ago, I started a little business of mine, one where I sell eggs in whole sale( crates). I don't have a poultry farm but this is what i do; I simply go to some farms around and offer to buy eggs from them while telling them I'm a supplier of the eggs, that way I get some cheap and others even cheaper. So basically, I buy and sell the eggs as a wholesaler without owning a farm.

Its not been an easy ride, some farmers have taken advantage of my novice as well as some of my customers but I gradually getting to understand the game as time goes on. The weight of the eggs and transportation costs as well as the fact that I also break some on the way has added to the difficulty too. Not to mention customers complaints on the size of the eggs being small.

They complaining about the size of the eggs is something I'm getting used to and trying to do better, some of the complaints are fair while others are just to cajole me into selling at a much lesser price.

This complaints seemed to peak yesterday when after making a delivery, the customer, a guy, called back to complain bitterly and insultingly too.

I was on my way to make a delivery when this guy called, it was almost 7pm. In order not to disappoint him, I sent a friend there with the crate of egg and of paid for her tfare. He paid and she gave him the eggs.

A few moments later he called me and complained angrily and bitterly about the size and even insulted me and the eggs too. I tried to calm him at first but he kept shouting on the phone and finally insisted that I come to take the eggs and return his money. I told him I don't do things that way and I'll come the next day so we could talk things out. I ended the call.

He called again more angry now that i ended the call on him and rained insults and threats too. I got angry and challenged him too, telling him about the pains and costs of bringing the eggs to him. I still told him to calm down till tomorrow and ended the call. He called again and once I noticed he was still insulting, I ended the call. I was mad but kept my cool not to talk too rash or even insult him.

I spoke to a few people about the incident and one even said if he really wanted his money he should be the one to return the eggs to me at my place and the I give him his money.

I liked the way I stood my ground against him and still didn't insult or say anything rash (just a quick reminder, I got hit by a bus the last time I went to deliver eggs to this same guy, just a crate) at the same time I feel bad cos a customer wasn't satisfied.

As it stands, I haven't done to meet with him, I feel scared a bit and angry and sad and also confused too. I do not know what to do.

Should I just leave him be and look for better customers?

Hmmm... Is this how all people in your line of business suffer before making sales? Another thing, is it worth all the stress?

You may really need to adjust your mode of operation. It's nice to satisfy Customers, but when you overdo it, some indecent ones will try to enslave you.

Review your mode of operation and do what's best for you and business.

Hmm, nice thoughts. You know I too have been wondering if all this is worth the stress especially after that incident and the time when I got hit by a bus. I feel like I'm just begining that's why and I'll get better and it'll get easier with time but on a second thought, what if it doesn't get better for me....hmm

One thing I know that keeps me going is my love for agriculture, the livestock part and businesses involved in it otherwise I would have quit a long time ago. I'll still continue but for now I need to rest and reevaluate as you've said.

Thanks a lot.

Alright. I can still recall when you made the first move towards this business. I really hope it works out well for you since it's something you are passionate about.

GoodLuck on this one.

So, what if this doesn't work out? Is there another means of earning for you?
