We all have some things in our life that we value the most. Although I do not believe in clinging onto material things, there are still some things that hold sentimental value and they have become part of my life. They are as good as valuable treasures for me.
While I believe that our relations are our most treasured valuables, and sometimes there are things given by the same relations that too become valuable just like them. Let me share my valuable treasures with you all today.
Both of these items go back to my childhood days. One was given to me by my aunt and the other one by my dad.
After I had turned 1, I had started living with one of my aunts. She had kind of adopted me, She was almost 70 then, but she was fit and strong and she was very fond of me right from the time I was born. My parents' situation was not very good, they were always fighting, so my aunt decided to keep me with her. She lived in a different city, so I started living with her till I was 5. I was a very sick child born with Asthma, she took very good care of me with her home remedies and made me a healthy child in those 4 years. I feel very strongly connected with her, even though it was a short span, because her warmth towards me was immense. I was happy living with her, and she was also very closely bonded with me. She was not a very rich lady, it was like just enough to live.
After I left her at the age of 5, she lived for a very short while and in 3 years time she passed away. I was too young to really feel much at that point of time, but now also I do have some vague fond memories of her. When she passed away, she left one Jewelry box for me. It is a Jewelry box that she used in her youth days and wanted me to have it. So I can say easily that the box is at least 100 years old. This box is very precious to me. For a long time I had wrapped it up and kept it, but in the last few years from the time I started working with Pendulums and Crystals, I removed the box to start using it to store my Pendulums. I felt like it was just meant for that. It is a beautiful and a very fond memory of my aunt. It keeps reminding me of her love and warmth that she always showered on me.
You will see from the picture, how fine this box is. It's a wooden box with Marble finish top, and it still has the note my aunt wrote for me. It is very precious. I handle it with utmost care.
You will see how beautifully it has been crafted.
The other precious item of my life is a watch, which my dad bought for me when I was 7 Years. Again dad was not a financially well off man, and in those times for us Indians buying anything from another country would mean a lot. One of his friends had travelled to Japan and that time he asked him to get 2 watches, one for my sister and one for me. A Seiko winding watch. It's a very fine watch, now 40 years old, so you know my age with that :-) hahahaha.
The watch is so pretty, it has not lost it's shine a bit, and does not even look like it's so old. It's in perfect working condition and I wear it so often fondly thinking of my dad. Though he was not a very rich man, he was a man with fine taste and whenever he wanted to buy something he would make sure it is of good taste, and that clearly reflects in this watch he got for us.
My aunt and dad, both of them are no more, and I have ample fond memories of them. I treasure these gifts they have given to me as precious as my life. I am not sure when I will get old, who will I give it to. Probably my grandchild, if a girl.
Life becomes magical with all these little things. Material things don't matter much, but when it comes from our very loved ones, they become more than a treasure, a sentimental value, which you get attached to for life long.
Do you have any such sentimental values in your life, do share it with me, if you wish to.
