Is it true that love is just a delusion?

Delusions of love do exist and that includes mental disorders. Delusions of love, also known as Erotomania, are symptoms of excessive obsession with other people and feeling that the person really loves them when they really don't.

The symptom of this disorder is a strong belief that he or she is being loved by someone, even though there is no evidence of love from that person and the following are examples:

  1. Excessive obsession with people who are considered to love him/her.

  2. Excessive jealousy of the person when with other people.

  3. Sending messages via social media to terrorize others.

  4. Has no enthusiasm for activities other than talking about the person.

Erotomania is not true love and love is not delusions or hallucinations, then delusions are a type of mental disorder where the sufferer cannot distinguish between reality and imagination, so he believes and acts according to what he thinks, while hallucinations are symptoms characterized by processed sensations by the brain and can affect the work of one's senses.

Based on this understanding, both delusions and hallucinations are conditions in which a person experiences things that are not real, while true love involves common sense and feelings. Love can make a person do many things, but if it goes against all logic, rationality, conscience, spiritual and social norms and removes all lines of nature and so the name changes to obsession it is no longer love.

A mother's love is different, because the unexpected shows the extent of the sacrifices a mother will make as proof of love. The weight of a mother's love that can be given is immeasurable because one's love will never run out.
