Curating is damn expensive!

in blurt •  last year

Hello,

I was on my blurt wallet today after months and saw that curating cost me more than 1400 blurt. In the process I took 230 blurt. That's why I finished the way I hope.

Hi @tomoyan, I entered and confirmed a vote value of 0% on your [tools page] (https://blurtblock.herokuapp.com/blurt/trail/). Does this end the curation path? If not, what do I need to do?

I don't understand how curation can cost you 1400 BLURT to generate only 230 BLURT?

Hi @nalexadre, I am no longer active here and only care! Therefore, please excuse the late response.

I had registered with an auto voter. The cost of 1400 blurt was incurred because every transaction, including voting, costs. In return, I received a share of 230 blurt for the votes distributed by the auto-voter.

I don't know how long and which auto-voter you used, but there's something wrong!

Let's take the example of the BeBlurt Delegation Program, something I'm familiar with as I'm its creator. This program returns 85% of the rewards to its delegators (while retaining 15% for BeBlurt development, including daily transfer fees and voting fees). If you delegate 40K BLURT POWER to @beblurt, you will receive a daily transfer of 8 to 10 BLURT (constituting the 85% share). Calculating the retained 15%, this amounts to 1.2 to 1.5 BLURT per day. Therefore, it would take 3 years to reach a "cost" of 1,400 BLURT (the transfer/voting fees part of these 1,400 BLURT is ridiculous considering @beblurt's 3.4 million BLURT POWER and the majority of this amount will be dedicated to the dev of BeBlurt.). However, during that same 3 years, you would receive 10,000 BLURT.
