What is Splash?

Exploration of the mainnet-first idea, eg:

Baby Blockchains

Blockchain Application TCO

Read both for background and context.

I think that it is impossible to answer these questions without actually having a mainnet, eg: jfdi

  • Is it better to raise a bunch of money, make a corporation, hire a team, or is it better to make the mainnet with minimal features, allow the chain to attract its own team, and design it over time since it's possible to scaffold a highly functional mainnet?

The benefit of this approach to founders and early community is quite clear. Projects often waste significant time fundraising, which could otherwise be used building community and software.

  • Is the upgrade module viable?

  • What modules might we want to build?

  • What's the experience like, using IBC?

  • How to integrate with various cosmos ecosystem dexes?

  • How do we index data like the boost multi_index_container?

  • Will front end developers actually show up to build on this thing?

  • How do they get paid?

  • How does the community develop?

  • Who are the users?

  • What are the collaboration opportunities with:

    • Akash
    • Desmos
    • Stargaze
    • Osmosis
    • Cyber
    • Sentinel
    • Sif

... and other Cosmos ecosystem projects

  • What are the deployment challenges?

  • What are the development issues?

  • When we have a basic social chain, what do we want to strap onto it? Anything?

  • Exploration of economic parameters

  • Exchange integration

  • How does content monetization work out in an IBC world with multiple potential sources of monetization for each post? (See: stakebird, also consider the concept of sponsorship of authors)

  • Mobile app?

...etc

So, all of that -- I honestly can't answer even one of those correctly until we have a mainnet.

Getting a mainnet just isn't all that hard, and since splash is modeled on the very spartan WLS economy, there's actually not very much code to write at all.

At least there's a canvas... and it's been stretched across a frame.
Paint - we need paint.

I’m ready to start painting.

I still have a lot of ignorance on this. You've said that WLS has no reward pool, but their site says it does, although nowhere can I find a definitive explanation on how it works other that there are daily rewards one must log in to claim and then something about reshares and tipping and I believe 15% of the pool for authors.

I also saw something about sending something to another account to claim our account there, and using something called a seed phrase. I'm hopeful there will be a step by step guide on how and what to do exactly. I'm very ignorant of tech and things such as this.

On a side note, I was curious if I could have your (the Blurt foundations) blessing to reach out in the next week or so to Binance about getting us listed on there. Probably will come to nothing, but I may be able to find something that would give us a small edge (if I'm remembering something correctly). Of course, if the reception is warm I would then need to let you know so you could work out the specifics and technical stuff.

Whaleshares does have a reward pool but it goes directly to you if you claim it each day. You can then decide if you want to use it for tips, keep it in your account as stake or a mixture of both. I don't know the percentages but for 221000 WLS approx stake I get approx 154 WLS per day. It changes each day, depending on how much is staked but that is the amount the last few days. It used to be closer to 200 per day but a lot of people were buying the tokens and staking them instead of keeping them liquid.

Thank you. :)

If our Blurt power is delegated will that Blurt power still get the snap shot for the splash air drop?

It will be very beautiful and we have discussed it in detail understand and be properly understood so that everyone will be more interested in knowing it.

Thank you so much @jacobgadikian

Great news, HF 0.3 is getting closer to our window, Splash will basically be what we want it to be, I understand it is a minimal blockchain and from then on it will start a development based on the opportunities and financial mechanisms of the moment. This type of development is close to the Cyberpunk philosophy, not Keanu's, but the philosophy of the early 90's that talked about decentralization and above all how to create alternative markets.

It's really exciting that @jacobgadikian's witness node is running on hf3. Having a base between all of us we can be like ants step by step build great things.

GO GO GO blurt!

I am hoping for the best for this upcoming community @jacobgadikian :D
I am also praying that people's lives will get uplifted by the use of Cosmos where Splash community will be set upon. :)
It is interesting on how things will work out and I am excited about it.

I have little doubt about the delegation. How does it affect in the HF? When the splash account is created, does the BP delegation amount reflects in my splash account as well? since the airdrop is at 1:1.

Ohjeehh a lot of questions? We will see. We are a good, a very good community and when the mainnet run we will see. I think it is a good approach to create plan the mainnet with minimal features, allow the chain to build their own team and develop it over time.
