Arch Linux Supremacy

Screen Shot 2020-11-07 at 9.31.38 PM.png

So a coworker pointed out to me that for the price of one fancy macbook, I could buy a 49" monitor, Ryzen CPU, 64GB RAM and an nvme disk. iGPU only cause I don't play games.

So, I figured I'd let you guys know that I have the computer sorted out. I'm getting:

  • New apartment
  • Desk
  • Chair
  • 49" Monitor
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard
  • Ryzen CPU
  • Teeny Motherboard
  • RAM
  • Teeny Case
  • USB3 Dock

....for less than the cost of the laptop I linked to in my previous post.

I'll be running Arch Linux, because it's the finest out there.

@jacobgadikian I would also love to see your setup.
You made the right move and decision.
Congrats!

I think this will get rolling in about 2 weeks less if I'm very lucky

I am marking the date on my calendar. I will be marking 22nd november. so i ll catch you that day.

I wish you all the best!!
I'll be anticipating that day.

The best decision you could have taken.
people go on with mac that is really costly and people often neglect the fact that they can build a nice cool desktop or any other company laptop for that price range as well for which they seek to buy a mac.

I would love to see your setup so it's a request that kindly share the images of your setup here once you are done with the shifting to the new apartment and stuff.

I never had a MacBook before and now I am saving to buy one but they are really overpriced. My friends say it’s worth every penny. I hope so :)

it's amazing, they're the best laptop out there. However if you will mostly be in one place, it probably does make more sense to just go with a desktop and one of these crazy 5K 49-in monitors.

Wow ... good deal.

Housing is pretty cheap here

Not like crazy crazy cheap but very affordable by US/European standards.

people like to purchase real estate as an investment as a hedge against inflation, And there is a notion that it can only go up. Therefore, rents are actually lower than most monthly mortgage payments.
