Pilots: Splash Testnet

OK guys time to fail!

I mean that in the best of ways, of course :)

I just added starport to the rpi and odroid-c2 images.

Screen Shot 2021-02-15 at 10.43.31 PM.png

This means that you've now got a full-featured Starport development environment (if you upgrade to the latest images at https://megadrive.blurt.foundation )

This also means that your humble Pi can run a Splash testnet node, in addition to the Blurt node.

I fully expect that the first try will fail, you game to try it anyhow?

You must be using one of the new images or you won't have starport.

OK, so, like I said this will probably fail, due to network/config issues.

But it's important to know how/why it fails....

starport network chain join splash-1

Use 100% default settings (can mainly just hit enter and use common sense)

starport network chain start splash-1

And then ya gotta wait a bit :)!

time to sleep.

for ubuntu or debian, which do not work on ARM? I already have all the software installed, you just need to tell us how to join the test network and which commands to execute.

Starport Network chain join splash-1

Image 2021-02-16-01:19:27 installed, looks good, blurtd is running :-))

Starport shows:

I let it run and now for me too: time to sleep.

gooooood

The message "no validators..." is still displayed. Is there anything I need to do? Flash the new Image?

If you do not have a Pi, you just need

https://github.com/tendermint/starport/releases

that'll get ya rolling. Please also make sure that you've got Go and npm installed.

Mac/Linux OK.

No Windows.

Instructions for debian or ubuntu?

wget -O starport_0.14.0_linux_arm64.tar.gz
https://github.com/tendermint/starport/releases/download/v0.14.0/starport_0.14.0_linux_arm64.tar.gz
tar xvf starport_0.14.0_linux_arm64.tar.gz
mv starport /usr/bin
chmod +x /usr/bin/starport
apt install snapd
snap install go --classic
snap install node --classic

Is there a minimum pi version?

maybe rpi3

The images use a kernel customized for rpi4

Please try it and let me know if it works. If it doesn't I'll make an rpi3 image.

I will do that! Didn't have time last night, but I should be able to give it a whirl today. Thanks!

I tried, but the pi wouldn't seem to boot. it wouldn't get past the hdmi initialisation screen. Alas.
