Future of Blurt

in blurt •  4 years ago

Hey let's talk about the near term future.

Guys we are gonna scale to thousands of witnesses, fast.

What if you could be a witness with ease?

Would you?

Yeah I bet you would.

Today it's way too hard to run a witness.

What if every blurt user could run a witness if they had any of these?

  1. laptop or desktop computer
  2. raspberry pi
  3. router
  4. VPS

Look we will never be decentralized or matter much for free speech if we don't make efforts to decentralize.

So it starts with a docker container that has Blurt's RPC, front end, image upload service and RPC Cluster baked into it.

Along the way, we are going to kill internet censorship.

See, baking software into a device image is a powerful way to bootstrap networks.

And that's what we are up to. Networks.

We will also link up with clay which is an exploration of how to combine overlay networks and blockchains for social benefit.

P2Pfe is a part of this as well. P2Pfe will work differently from condenser. It can be deployed in a humble way onto GitHub pages, and can connect to blurt + IPFS just like regular blurt. P2Pfe is how we scale to tens of thousands of front ends.

It's perfect for the user that just wants to host their own blog on their own domain, and know that it is globally accessible.

Ah and let's not forget about transaction fees.

Folks I want them high. I don't want runaway chain growth and I want high quality content and that means posts should be costing ~1 BLURT.

Eventually that'll mean that it costs $1 to post to blurt.

This is a good thing!

Actually thats a dream bubble. How many witnesses (Stem/hive/blurt) run REALLY an own server? Before the Steem/hive fork 90% runs on big cloud services like Amazon/Google/etc. You can have 10.000.000 Witnesses - but if most of them uses the big clouds of the maincensors you need only one kick and the chain is dead.

Making this thing truly robust and truly impossible to kill is a goal of mine.

And I'll do whatever is needed to get there, even if that means changing consensus.

Making this thing truly robust and truly impossible to kill is a goal of mine.

This is a good way, which I definitely support.
If you look at the censorship madness right now, it becomes more and more important to have a censorship free platform. That was the reason why I ended up at Steemit almost 3 years ago. I had/have not much to do with cryptos. But i fight since years for the right of freespeech.

In my opinion, freedom of speech is a fundamental right that must be defended worldwide.

High cost for posting is very good, it just means that more quality content would happen and also it will affect the price of blurt positively @jacobgadikian :D

I agree wholeheartedly. We need fees and high fees to keep content high quality.

I am not that interested in running an witness node but even apart from it i think it is going to have an amazing future for sure.

Thanks for this great update my friend. You are making a good history up here. Great future for Blurt community.

really that means in future it ll cost $1 to post to blurt. but sir would everyone be ok with that , specially new comers to the platform.

In that same future, high quality posts will earn $1000-$2000 so I reckon people will be fine with it.

really...? that's amazing to know.
i am really happy that i came across the platform and i am using it in it's prime.
thank you sir to each and everyone who has builded this platform.
looking forward to new improvements. 🙂

Well please don't take that as a certainty, but I think that if our decentralization efforts are successful, $1 blurt is a real possibility.

Disclaimer: blurt is experimental software and as such could explode at any time.

let's hope for the best sir

Sounds great! Time to buy a Pi :-)

posts should be costing ~1 BLURT.

For main posts gladly, but not for comments.

Technically we could make it that way but the trouble is that it would be possible to farm votes on comments just as it is now possible to farm votes on main articles.

I'm very interested to hear your idea about this because it's a really challenging issue and even I don't know the exact right way to solve it.

Some comments are better than the main post, rewards should not be restricted here. But I understand the problem and I do not have a spontaneous solution, not as simple as you say. Probably, we would have to solve it at user level.

Sorry, a bit off topic: @jacobgadikian, @megadrive, @ericet

Please, do we have bots here on BLURT that use early voting to their advantage?

I think someone wrote the script to do the auto voting. I don’t think they earn any curation since they upvote right after everyone makes a post

Yes I think we do.

sir , these are the names that like my post somrtime as well and thats like just after few seconds of when i post on blurt. are these bots...?

but why is there NaN written , what does NaN means...?

Blurt picture server has issues. As long the issue is not solved, you can upload your picture to another free picture server (maybe your own) and change the address string of the picture string like here in example:
Original Blut upload address:

![picturename.jpg](https://img.blurt.world/blurt/yourname/picturename.extension)

Changed workaround address:
![picturename.jpg](https://your.server.address/path/picturename.extension)

(Extension is jpeg, jpg or png)

This "NaN" means that the vote with the low percentage 1% has no BLURT value at all.

NaN -> englisch for „Not a Number“

But my question was on the subject of "bot", which votes very early.

thanks for clearing the doubt. but actually how can we eliminate these bots is there any way? can't we find who are creating bots ?

Oh, I am not a founder, witness or developer. I think you have to ask them ;-)

Speaking of somebody who is a founder, a witness, and a developer, I think that the solution to this problem needs to be developed collaboratively because in fact I do not yet know how to solve it. If I did know exactly how to solve it, I assure you that it would be solved quite durably by now.

I agree. If all of us be the part of witnesses then it will be real decentralization. It should make revolution. Ya, Content should be quality to grow with blurt quickly.

Great plan for Blurt's success. I think P2PFE is the way to go.

1 Blurt = 1$

Blurt to the moon!

Thanks

My suggestion is that to ensure good contents it needs embedded plagiarism checker. It will ensure plagiarism free post here. And need also a group of people to check contents quality daily.

It's not possible.
