Debating Downvotes vs No Downvotes with Hive Users

in blurt •  2 years ago

An hour ago @Tekraze and I were participating in the Ecency live show that's hosted for the Indian community by Indian user Bhatt and others.

Last week I had participated and we discussed a lot of stuff but this time we ended up discussing Downvotes.

Blurt has no downvotes but Steemit and Hive have downvotes and a lot of people don't like them.

I had a good discussion about it with Bhatt, Parvesh, Alokkumar and Inuke.

Well, I believe that Blurt is more peaceful and productive because users here don't have to be worried about some whale showing off their power by downvoting for no reason.

Hive on the other hand is a good platform but anyone can downvote you and your content can be hidden from users if you recieve a lot of downvotes and I personally believe that it is against the ethos of Freedom of Speech.

It was a good debate and Alok and Bhatt shared their views.

I invite everyone to join Blurt and I have started participating in Discord live shows to talk about Blurt with people from different platforms.

Do you support downvotes?

And tell me which discord live should I participate next?

No, downvotes, no!

I agree with you that voting negatively violates freedom of expression.

If a piece of content does not require the minimum requirements to be voted on, it is enough to ignore it.

Assuming the power to vote negatively, beaner it, obscure it, etc. is not only a way of censorship but also shows a remarkable capacity for arrogance.

And there is plenty of that in HIVE. In Blurt, luckily, we don't have that plague.

Greetings @imransoudagar.

The very reason why i promote blurt than others and this is why i am more active here than the Hive community. I don't consider it as a rivalry between the 3 blockchain based social media but i am more confident here as i can exercise more my freedom here than the rest.
Good Vibes!!!!

I arrived here due to the hypothetical situation you described in your post. I met a different policy by other users and I began receiving daily downvotes which took to zero the value of all my posts. I don't know if downvote is completely wrong or not, but the possibility to create the situation in which I found my self is (that one, yes) completely wrong, in my opinion.
