The story of Dr. Rajalakshmi, who lives in the Indian state of Karnataka, should begin with the accident that happened to her in 2007. Her spinal cord was broken in several places and she was paralyzed from the waist down. After two failed surgeries and endless hours of physical therapy, doctors reduced her to the point where she could only get around in a wheelchair. She was not completely devastated by what had happened. But coping with her disability was a mental and physical challenge for her. Physical injuries heal over time. But mental adaptation was more difficult and more important for her. Accordingly her university education

She subjected herself to a rigorous schedule - going to the college clinic, attending labs, assignments and case presentations back home. As a result, Rajalakshmi completed M.D.S. Along with her graduation, she also won the 2010 Gold Medal for Dentistry.
Then she put her wheelchair in her mother's car and traveled independently across India. She needed the stability and reliability to face the life ahead because she was a beautiful young girl who had many dreams. She always thought that how am I going to get here sitting in a wheelchair.
Today (2019) she not only teaches as an assistant professor in Karnataka Dental College, but is also the founder of SJ Dental Clinic, a dental clinic. She is currently engaged in research projects on genetics and gives lectures on behalf of the disabled at international conferences. She conducts free dental health camps in schools and is a valuable trainer who gives wheelchair training to the disabled.
On the first day Rajalakshmi opened her dental clinic, when she entered the room in a wheelchair, patients asked her where the doctor was.
She is the leader of India's fight for the rights of the disabled. She is asking the Indian government for one thing. "Allocate 3% of the state revenue for these disabled people who have been forgotten by the government and Indian society" Her .SJ foundation has been working for disabled people for more than seven years now. They are currently fighting for the rights of disabled people in terms of employment opportunities.
Her message to the youth is “Learn to love your life the way you want, but don't settle for what you have. Life is a process of transformation. Explore your abilities through different dimensions and paths. That's what living is called.
