sweet story

Knowing that you do not like to eat honey, I am writing this story to make you hate honey. Many types of sweets can be found in village Thulan. Kitul honey, coconut honey, honey, sugarcane, kanei honey, bambara honey and other koi honey are equally loved by everyone in the village. Villagers in Megama mostly eat Kitulpani.
Kolittan is popularly known as "honey-making" among the village women and the person doing the kolittam is known as "paniya". There is no shortage of sweets in the village. A few grandfathers and uncles are sometimes seen among the village honeys. They are ahead of the young in terms of honey shedding. At that time, we also gave them a name "Mahpaniya". Sometimes the virtues of the white Sinhalese are not absent in the village. I hope it will bring you joy to be told the sweet story by a honey. The most honey-making house in the village was called "Honey House". 'Honey Uncle, Honey Aunty, Honey Grandma, Honey Grandpa' are the usual names given to honey sellers.

Kitul nectar is also common as Kitul trees are abundant in Megama. When the flower of the Kitul tree blooms, it is cut with a sharp knife (knife to cut the flower) and the medicine is poured into it. It is called putting the flower medicine. It was our grandmother's custom to prepare "Malabhetha" by grinding the stalks of ginger, ash, raw coconut oil, chillies etc. with sour orange paste. There are many methods of preparing the stool. It is the belief of the villagers that by applying the fertilizer, the ripening of the Kitul flower will be delayed and the seeds will be shed more.
Kitul ra can be made by leaving the eggs to ferment. Nowadays Kitul Ra is rare and instead 'Sugar Karinjang' is produced in abundance. 'Telijja' is the liquid that flows from the Kithul flower. Telijja that does not have a rat is called "Altelijja". Kithul honey can be made by melting the eggs well. Honey can be further melted and made into jaggery. The area known as "Meemure" is a village famous for making jaggery in the past. I eat jaggery, sugar and various sweet sweets and drink bitters, but I do not feel better than taking a bite of sweet and drinking bitters. In today's time, even though the sellers are used to sell fake honey by melting sugar and adding salt to it, people like us cannot be fooled by them.
There was a honey house in our village. Attamma was there and sold honey by melting it. When asked the address of the house out of curiosity,
"Betel nut, lime tobacco,
Saliva, labor"

Even today, Masitha gets a smile on his face when he hears the saying. Attamma Njegedara fed the children with the money she had melted, but she left this world without caring for the children. We were not surprised that her husband also did not care about his children
"If you beat the iron bag, don't look at the rice bag"
Because we firmly believed in the saying. Villagers believe that raw beef is good for the body. Whether it was good or not, I didn't think twice about drinking Telijja because of my greed for sweetness. But drinking frogs is not a very appropriate thing, and I think that the Anagarika Dharmapala said, "He who drinks frogs is a fool, and he who drinks frogs is a trapper" was not for gossip. We still melt honey today. Because you don't like to eat sweets, I tried not to give you sweets.
