She grew up in a family of poor parents. Since childhood she could see the benefits of education and hard work. Not much is known about the beginning of their relationship but the two were arrested within months. When Lenin was sentenced to deportation in Siberia, he wrote a letter to Nadeeshda asking him to join him. They had to get married to do so, so as soon as Nadeeshda came to Siberia they got married.

Krupskaya joined Lenin in Munich after teaching in 1901 and they both left for London. They lived in several European cities and returned to Russia in 1905.
Apparently, Nadeeshda suffered from Graves disease, but couldn't stop her from working as Lenin's personal secretary as well as author secretary of party newspapers and magazines. Leon Trotski, who was given the opportunity to work with Lenin and Krupska from 1902 to 1903, described Nadeeshda's role in his work in the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party, was crucial.
