Honey ants:

"Honey store ants, or fillers, store food in their bodies to feed their colony members during times of scarcity. They are found in arid regions of North and South America, Australia and Africa. It's a perfect strategy to survive bad times.
Some worker ants eat food and turn it into a sweet syrup and store this syrup in their stomachs. Honeypots, often bulging and looking like biological storage containers, feed and care for worker ants in an ant colony. Worker ants feed honeypot ants with sugary liquids and other nutrients that they store in their bodies. Honey pots can be too large for ants to move, and they are placed in a special chamber within the ant colony.
During times of food scarcity, worker ants tap the honeypot ants' stored food reserves by gently tapping their bodies. Honeypot ants then regurgitate the stored food, which worker ants consume and distribute to other colony members.
Honeypot ants can steal nectar from colonies, as it contains stored food essential to raider ants. Honey ant colonies will be protected from raids, but successful thefts can significantly affect their food reserves. Some ant species have specialized defense mechanisms, such as large-headed, mandible workers to protect colony entrances.
Honey ants play an important role in the ecology of their environment, helping to redistribute resources and promote the survival of their colony in difficult times. They are also considered a delicacy by some indigenous peoples who use them as a food source.
