Did you know that the happiest people in the world are "pirahas"?
Piraha, one of the rarest tribes in the world, live on the banks of the Maici River, a tributary of the Amazon River.
Their language is so undeveloped, there is no definition of left and right, there is only one word to describe the colors blue and green. Red, black and white are all the same word. They have no understanding of time. The sun only knows the sun rises and sets.
They have no religion.. Christianity is preached but they don't care about it... They don't listen to the stories of Catholic saints.. They say,,, because those stories are told by unknown people about unknown people, they are not important to them. There are no present and future tenses. A language that speakers can know as easily. They do not sleep at night. Then because of the fear that snakes will bite.
And they can download Uhuruwan. They exchange messages in such ways.
The Pirahã community is a nation that is dying very quickly. In 2010, the population of Pirah was 420. But by 2012, 300. The Pirahas do not identify themselves by that name. They believe that they should be known as the Hi'aiti'ihi nation. It means man.
They call father, grandfather, son, grandfather and all older men as 'Bixi'. Girls or boys are called 'Ksahaini'. All other relatives are called 'Pihi'.
American citizen Daniel Everett, an anthropologist and linguist, has made a serious study of the Pirahas. He has lived with them for some time.
They have the strategy to protect themselves in the wild. They know nothing but the art of hunting and the art of building dwellings. They use canoes to cross the Amazon tributary, which harbors vicious piranhas. They are also threatened by other tribes living in the Amazon forest.
They are said to be extinct in the next 50 years. Although the Pirahas who live only in simplicity and the present are the happiest people in the world, that is the only thing that can be sad.
