24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
God has always been interesting in relating with man on a one-on-one basis. He doesn't want distraction when He communes with us. Every man that encountered God as recorded in scripture was always called to a lone place that would create an environment that allows for apt attention.
Today, the cares of life have constituted a great noise of distraction that have prevented believers from hearing God and relating intensely with Him. This truth was revealed to Isaiah in the 54th chapter where he reports that God wakes him early in the morning and wakes his ear to listen to God.
Jesus our model in walk with God had in frequent basis always gone to the solitary place to commune with God on a daily basis during his earthly life. This he taught the disciples the essence of having a lone time with God.
Our main scripture pictures Jacob whose strength had failed him and all he needed was God. He resorted to sending forward all o His household ahead of him that he might have a lone moment. God didn't take for granted that desire and vulnerability of Jacob.
God encountered Jacob at the lone place hi created. There were no more bleating sounds of animals neither the the family distractions. All Jacob has was a heart that needed God and God alone.
Today, while all human efforts have failed us to see a way out of COVID plague, staying home and alone has been the resort. While many are afraid of why would become of their lives, it I important that I draw our attention to the fact that this could be a great deal of time for us to go an apt attention to God.
While we stay home, it is important that we set our priorities right and we fix our eyes on God. We now have an environment void of distractions. Let our hearts focus on God and we may be having our Peniel experience.
While you stay alone, look up and give your attention to God.
