I've been powering up any extra earnings I get from the 25/75 split. I don't think I'll need any of the money since I have my full time jobs so I'm definitely going to power up for bigger up votes.

That's a good way to do it. The Powerbot really encourages a certain type of Blurt user - the type that creates content and powers it up to also earn on curation. It maxes out at about a million BP so it doesn't really favour massive whales, which I guess is also fair. I think the Powerbot is a good idea.
