Meet Blurt's 10 largest manual curators!

in blurt •  9 months ago

This is a list of Blurt's top 10 active manual organic curators, by amount paid out (and amount of curation rewards earned).

How it was calculated

Manual curation is done by a person (not software). Organic curation is based on the content (not the creator). Active means currently and regularly voting on content, so curators like @Leifasaur - who has been away for a couple weeks - will not appear on this update.

Thus, "active manual organic curators" are accounts operated by humans currently voting on content for its own merit. It excludes bots, voting services, and those who primarily vote for themselves or a closed group ("farmers" and "jerkers"). Group accounts and curation projects are eligible to appear on the list.

Since there is no published data on this, I used the tool created by @ecosynthesizer to sort all Blurt accounts by BP. Next, I listed them by "Vote Weight", which is their Blurt Power plus delegated BP coming in, minus delegated BP going out.

ddasdsd.png

Then, to narrow the list to the intended field, I removed all accounts known to be bots, voting services, farmers, or jerkers.

Final Results

Voting Weight is shown in thousands of BLURT.

  1. @beblurt - 5492
  2. @saboin - 4841
  3. @ecosynthesizer - 3167
  4. @curationcoconut - 2368
  5. @blurtpower - 1819
  6. @elkezaksek - 1702
  7. @outofthematrix - 1405
  8. @randula - 1040
  9. @drutter - 1011
  10. @kryptodenno - 975

As of 9 Dec 2023, those are the 10 accounts manually drawing the largest amounts from the Blurt reward pool!

Note: If you know of any accounts on the list that shouldn't be there, please let me know, and I'll make an update. Likewise, if you know of an account that should be on the list but isn't, drop me a line so I can look into it.

I did not account for Voting Power (other than by excluding accounts regularly sitting at 100% VP), since we now know that Voting Power does not affect total votes or rewards.

People who split their BP over multiple accounts (like @r2cornell - total 2831k), are tallied separately. This results in a lower position on the list than they would have if they curated from a single account, but is not meant to diminish the significance of their contributions.

Change from last update

I previously calculated a similar list back in March.

Beblurt has surged from 914k to 5492k, becoming the top manual curator on this platform. Congratulations and thank you, Beblurt!

Saboin, ecosynthesizer, curationcoconut, blurtpower, outofthematrix, drutter, and kryptodenno maintained their relative positions as they added between 10% and 30% to their VW. Elkezaksek and Randula were new on this tally.

I hope you found this useful and interesting. Now go out there and create high-quality original content, and hope you're visited by the above excellent curators!

Personal situation

I'm honoured to appear on a list with such all-stars of manual voting. Without curation, there are no payouts on this blockchain. No curation, no Blurt! So these people are not only Blurt's investors, they are the ones keeping the platform running, the ones drawing in and maintaining content-creators, the ones giving the BLURT token value.

My mission is 1,000,000 BP (before delegations) by December 31st, and I'm most of the way there! Here is my latest update, where I hit 970,000 BP.

Currently at 973k on December 9th, I will need something more than just my regular earnings if I want to achieve that goal. But I'm already at 1,011,000+ including delegations, and will surpass the million BP on my own sometime in January.

It's a pleasure to curate with this many tokens behind me, helping support good creators, and build the platform. Also, I want to thank you for your contributions. Everyone on Blurt is a participant, and all participation on Blurt has an impact.

Hahah, there's @saboin modeling his top-notch curating to the platform! 70 cent vote for a single gif comment (which you aren't the creator of)... but missed the post (which sings his praises) that took me 2 days to write :P

😆🤣

What happened was I thought I was upvoting the post, but it upvoted that comment instead.

I don't know if I had a brain fart or if the UI was screwed up at the time and it misread where I was tapping (I was on my mobile phone when I voted).

I meant to upvote the post.

I chuckled when I came to read this comment and noticed that the heart was red on @francbacon's comment and not on the post.

I've done worse.

Whew, I thought it was some kind of hidden message that you hate me ; )
It's a decent comment, don't get me wrong...
Thanks for the juicy upvote.

Very proud to be in the top 10! 😍🙏🏽🍀❤️🎄🎅🌞

You have grown considerably this year, nicely done mate.

Thanks so much buddy! 🙏🍀🌞

Interesting!
Thanks for the effort to compile such a list.
After the big fight back then, I didn't have much desire for Blurt anymore.
We all lost a lot of money back then, but even worse was that almost the entire German community broke away and the pub was closed by @double-u on Sunday evening.
When the money stopped flowing, many people left the platform. This of course shows that for many people the community chatter was not meant seriously, but first and foremost most people want to earn money.
That's understandable, but I don't like it when people first pretend that Blurt is their life and then, when there's nothing more to earn, they leave.
I only stayed because of our Uganda project.
There was such a nice atmosphere here on Blurt at the time and there was hope that Blurt was different from other platforms.
It was all very personal, even contact with the founders was completely normal.
It was a really nice time.
But somehow it was also utopia to believe that money didn't rule the (small) world....
Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who still votes manually.

Ganz ehrlich?

My reward is around 2.5 Blurt per vote so it will take a long time until I'm on the list. I do try to curate and vote for at least 2-5 posts a day.

So anywhere around 60-150 manual votes a month. I've got to pump up those numbers.

I think the settings more-or-less encourage curation in a healthy way. I like how we're incentivized to do it... but it directly benefits the platform and other users, so that makes sense. The fine tuning may need adjustment but overall it's a good concept.
