I have to admit that I am largely in alignment with you on this item. While some people do raise valid issues under the general heading of free speech, it often seems like more simply enjoy making a lot of noise and then label it "free speech."

Be that as it may, how often does it actually serve a purpose and further something? Or is it simply an insatiable obsession with "stirring ANY and ALL pots, at ALL times?"

Often, it seems like more the latter...
