Catarinas are good luck, a few days ago I saw this little catarinas at the door of my house and it is not new that it appears because spring has already started. When I was little I used to play with the red catarinas and this time I found a white catarinas with black spots, it is a different and beautiful catarinas.

The pictures were taken from my cell phone and as this insect is very small I used the camera in Macro mode to get a closer look at this beautiful creature of nature. The shots were taken at night, a cold and calm night. It was nice to see this catarina.

Several years ago I used to see the Catarinas in the trees, on the walls and I would play with them, grab them and put them in my hand. Enjoy these pictures.

Is this a a lady bug?

Yes, they are lady bugs! I had never seen one of this color

Ah, same as here. We started to have a some of "asian lady beetle" (also known as harmonia axyridi), they look similar to a lady bug but more orange in color, still that does not seem to be it. The lack of the whites sports on the heads indicate that is was not it either. So I was a little curious, the closest thing I could find would be a "Ladybird Tytthaspis sedecimpunctata", which is in the same family. It was fun to look it up as I learn they they are also grey lady bugs and all sorts of variations.
