Tell us about yourself ?

I’m going to share with you something personal that not many people know, but it is highly relevant in the context of social media.

At around age 12 I lost my grandfather, we were very close, he was like a second dad to me. It happened very unexpectedly, and it affected me badly to the point where I lost my voice, and I mean that literally, I developed a speech problem in my teens. I couldn’t answer the phone without stammering, I couldn’t speak to girls or even speak in public. This is the reason that giving people a voice on social media is so important to me today.

I did eventually find my voice, I gained confidence through mobile Djing where I was able to use the microphone in a fun setting to get over my fears.

In my 20’s I got married and had several kids, so I had to grow up fast, I started several businesses in the ICT, real estate and manufacturing sectors and as I matured and got over my fears, I got my voice back.

How did you join crypto ?

Around the end of 2015 I had grown tired and frustrated with filling out forms to do foreign payments for our family import/export business. At the time my brother showed me a bitcoin documentary which really resonated with me, a lightbulb just clicked on regarding the use of bitcoin as a seamless payment method.

So I researched a bit and met a guy that was doing Ethereum mining, he also got me a gig shadow writing for him for crypto publications, I wrote quite a good article about provably fair gaming using blockchain technology. A few months later he introduced me to Steem as a platform where we could freelance and earn money for posting, at which point I basically became obsessed with blockchain social media.

What pushed you to create blurt ?

Blurt was created in a time of uncertainty when Steem had a governance take over by Justin Sun of Tron and exchanges that supported him. This was followed by a community fork into Hive which forked without certain accounts included, namely those that previously supported Justin Sun and even those that held the status quo.

At this time there was a lot of fighting and anger, downvotes on the other platforms were being used as tools to subjugate and bully users, downvote wars were rampant on Graphene platforms.

I created Blurt with co-founders Jacob and Tuan, it was created to be a safe haven away from the fighting, for bloggers to join and not feel the threat of having their voice removed with downvotes, we also carried over all accounts and balances from Steem intact.

How do you see the future of blurt ?

I see the community growing exponentially, many times greater than what it is now. Blurt will be multi-chain and pervasive across blockchain communities. I also think the medium in which Blurt is consumed will change, it will likely go in the direction of eXtended Reality (XR), where blogs will be visible in Augmented Reality (AR) right in your living room or in a Heads Up Display (HUD) in metaverse environments. This is the reason we have partnered with the Gamestate metaverse project, so Blurt can remain at the forefront of XR development.

What are planned collaborations ? Maybe with companies, or other crypto projects.

As mentioned we have collaborated with Gamestate to take Blurt into the virtual space, imagine building a community around your own personal space with a central messaging board that is your Blurt blog, I think that’s pretty cool.

In addition to this we are in talks with Telos and Appics to see how we can expand into their communities.

And in the end, why you would like people to join Blurt ? Any tips you can give them to grow and improve there. Maybe some tips about crypto in general.

I will answer that question in reverse, my general crypto tip is diversify, don’t put all your assets in one basket I mean look at the recent Luna debacle. I strongly believe in multichain maximalism and being a cryto hippie.

Succeeding on Blurt is all about providing value, bring more value to the community than you extract, find a way to become a community hero, choose a noble cause and inspire others to follow it.

Essentially, I would like people to come to Blurt to find their voice like I did, there are many people around the world who don’t have a voice, either they are oppressed or just have a low self-esteem, Blurt can help you find community that can support you in building confidence and finding your voice.
