The Red and White vaccine has begun to be clinically tested for phase 1. Later this vaccine will not only be used as a booster in Indonesia, but will be donated to countries in the African continent.

The clinical trial of the red and white vaccine began on Wednesday (9/2) yesterday at the Soetomo Hospital. The clinical trial was attended by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawangsa, Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, and UNAIR Chancellor Mohammad Nasih.

"Considering that the Red and White vaccine is a domestic product, it is the embodiment of the progress and independence of the nation as an effort to encourage the achievement of national security," he said.

There are seven Red and White Vaccine development institutions, namely a team from Airlangga University (UNAIR), Comparative Technology Institute (ITB), University of Indonesia (UI), Eijkman Research Center for Molecular Biology (PRBM) BRIN, Padjadjaran University, and the LIPI team which has merged with BRIN. .

Before entering the phase 1 clinical trial, the red and white vaccine had passed pre-clinical trials 1 and 2 from BPOM. A total of 90 volunteers ranging in age from 18 to 60 years were involved in this phase 1 clinical trial.

If the phase 1 clinical trial is successful, phase 2 will involve 400 volunteers and the third phase 5,000 volunteers. After all these stages of clinical trials are successful, the Merah Putih vaccine can be injected into the general public in mid-2022. The Merah Putih vaccine also has a halal certificate from 7 February 2022 to 6 February 2026.
