Have you ever run across those little free library boxes? They're boxes where people put books or magazines in them. Most of the ones I see look like bird houses. They're a great idea and I usually peek in them or leave something in there.
I found this book of poems that looked interesting so I took it with me. Once I started reading it I noticed all the branding on it. A sticker on the spine, stamps on the inner and first page as well as the last page. Many bleeding over into the next page as they didn't let it dry. They've even stamped their full address on it.
The slogan on the spine says its a gift and not for sale. There was also a note on the box about how they're filming who interact with it and how it's not a garbage can.
Who would be selling this? The last time I tried to sell a book they quoted 25 cents for it. I usually give my books away once done or to anyone who has an interest in it. Who's throwing garbage into this too? Are people placing their fast food bags or pet waste in here too? I feel like ringing their doorbell and asking these questions without appearing too crazy.
Jim Morrison and The Doors might have a hot take on this this too and I think they'll agree with me on this one at least.
As for The Free Little libraray, pay them a visit. They even have plans to build your own and promote the love of reading.
Yeah Jim Morrison!!
I was surprised to hear that he never knew how to sing properly before The Doors among other things.
That gives me some hope.
