Gitlab Outage ripple effects
At 06:07 UTC time Blurt.blog and all alternate frontends ceased to function, this was noticed by @megadrive, and Blurt Core developers were alerted, @tekraze was on duty and responded to the incident.
It was discovered that Gitlab was under maintenance, their site had the following message:
We are splitting our database into Main and CI!
And a 120-minute lead time to resolve.
This had an effect on the Blurt service because Condenser (Code name for the blog ui) relies on input from .json files that are kept on Gitlab for ease of updating, these include the pinned posts roster and the apps page entries. Since Gitlab was down Condenser produced an error.
@tekraze diverted these links to Github copies of the relevant .json files, @megadrive suggested that we reduce these external dependencies by either creating a failover to Github in the future or pushing the .json files to the same hardware that serves Condenser.
The frontends have since been restored but the apps page will be empty for now until we complete the holistic fix.
Wallet Power Down Error
Some users have reported trouble powering down, this seems to be a bug on the Blurtwallet app and our developers are looking into the issue, of the npm package dependencies were on Gitlab and the Gitlab downtime has delayed investigation for this fix, Power downs likely still work from the CLi wallet if you have an immediate need.
Conclusion
As you can see, the Blurt Core team works as a cohesive unit where all members play a crucial role in problem-solving and ideation, we still believe we are in the best position to support the Blurt blockchain and auxiliary infrastructure as Blurt has not matured to the point of having prolific community developer talent with a deep understanding of our technical stack.
The Blurt Core team works most efficiently in a positive community environment, and therefore request that the community refrain from creating division within our team, we are like a close family now after having served side-by-side through all of the past Blurt crisis periods, an attack on one of us is an attack on us all and greatly reduces morale and output.
Communication
As suggested by the community we will be improving our communication so please follow this account for regular updates.
Thank you.
I also appreciate the rapid response to the downtime.
I also saw that one can use Blurt.live wallet link as demonstrated by Tekraze and andrianna. For those who aren't tech savvy like myself and can't access the chain directly.

Thank you for pinning this post so that i could know about this account. I have followed and hope to get updates at the earliest from now on.
Thanks for this update. Great work as always.
If i get this as a answer ,... well ,.. i rest my case ,. thanks for solving the "problem"
You read the announcement, though... what would we do without them? They are the only ones who can keep this place from completely falling apart. Says right there in the post. ; )
I think the problem here is mistrust there needs to be some kind of letting go of the wallet freezing thing so assurances that are necessary to those involved are made again if necessary and those who Were on the receiving end need to then let it go and not jump to conclusions. All this stuff stems from a lack of trust probably now on both sides. Just a suggestion but maybe the people who threatened the freezing of wallets can give extra assurance to those who were on the recieving end and those who were can try and be less reactive to tech issues. Else I feel this will happen every time.
Yeah, I personally don't have much trust at the moment, but I have not powered down, in fact I have bought more BLURT and powered it up. Maybe that's a bad idea, we'll see. I'm not really sure how my own trust could be earned back. It's not easy to please me, I admit that. What I've seen here thus far hasn't been very acceptable imo. A lot needs to chance and there doesn't seem to be much willingness to do so. I am not a whale but I control 500k, which actually represents 10 years of full-time content-creation. It has a low USD value at the moment but I am really hoping that changes soon.
I’m thinking to buy a little more but I also want access to at least some of my stake cause I also don’t trust there not being another wild move that makes all
The big investors leave suddenly.
For me, the decision in my head to be here is much easier: What alternatives do I have? None! This is clearly the only place for me!
Yeah, that's one of my main reasons at the moment, too...
It might be possible to fork, or just start a new place from scratch, but that would divide our small community further. I'd really like to recapture our momentum here and leave these dark times in the dust.
Amen mate! 🙏🏽🍀❤️👌🏽🌞

Sorry m8 ,.. i lost all trust in Blurt ,.. and the dev's i know personally , who gain nothing by giving opinion on Blurt ,.. working on multiple blockchain projects and are very experienced in doing so ,.. tell me this blurt tech team is a bunch of amateurs at least ,.. could be scammers even , as nothing they see adds up to good blockchain management . :-(
Thanks for the info!
One thing though, it's not really possible to have nothing to gain from giving out opinions, especially when those opinions are being used as supporting evidence for why large investors should or should not participate in something. After all, if they are working on other projects, as you say, then perhaps they do have something to gain from rival projects losing whales. I'm not questioning your sincerity or integrity, but you understand why I have to take your contact's opinion with a grain of salt. You're right though, too many errors and problems in too short a time... makes it seem like either incompetence or corruption, or some mix thereof...
Thanks for the informative and speedy fix. Everyone seems to be back up and running smoothly again :)
