We have made the subtle change to the voting modal as indicated in our previous post, but we added a little something.
Instead of the upvote button, we are now using a heart icon, the aim of this is to soften the voting action to become more amorous towards the recipient and hopefully will help to bring about a mindset change on how people treat each other on the platform.
We feel that downvotes bring out the very worst in intersocial behaviour, hence we did not adopt downvotes. We hope the heart icon will support a positive vibe on Blurt.
Also, take note of the cool animation swirl effect when you click the heart button, it's just awesome!
The voting modal may not display properly until you clear your cache, here's how you can clear it on Chrome and iOS.
Clearing Cache on iOS
Go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data.

Just my opinion here. Other platforms use a heart and blurt, as an alternative platform, should be different. Unique. Clapping hands perhaps. A smiling Blurt face perhaps. Something unique for a unique platform. We are not loving posts we are liking and supporting/encouraging one another. I don't like the heart as it is over used on the internet. Just my opinion.
I appreciate, however, the sentiment in the change and the ongoing development of the platform. It's alive in that sense. A developing and living platform. We should rise above the other platforms, not copy them that's all.
Maybe the Blurt smiley for that? 🤬
Nicely done, this will increase the love for other users, as well as increase the love for Blurt.
